President Samah Breaks Ground for the Construction of a Modern Palava Hut, named "Student Center Annex."

TUSGA PPB: April 6, 2020

The 10th Student Government Association of the William V. S. Tubman University has broken ground for the construction of a modern Palava hut.
According to the President, the project named "Student Center Annex" will be used by students for sitting, meetings and intellectual discourses.
There students will discuss political, social issues, national and international concerns that term to shape the life and destiny of the students at TU.

The Groundbreaking Ceremony was held on Monday, April 6, 2020 at the University's Academic Annex (Dr. Elizabeth Davies Russell College of Education) just outside the main campus.
The ceremony was attended by members of the SGA and a Representative from the Division of Student Affairs of the University.

Those present at the groundbreaking ceremony were; TUSGA President, Mr. Smith Samah who led the team, Vice President, Miss. Odarkor D. Nah, Financial Secretary, Victor M. Williams, SRC, Mr. Emmanuel S. Perry, Tubman University Student Clubs and Activities officer, Mr. Joeranzo Nyanti, Mr. Celsius J. Jobo, Chairman on Technical Committee among others.
The President of the 10th Student Government Association, Mr. Smith Samah thanked his teammates at TUSGA for the high level of cooperation and willingness to work for the students especially in the wake of the global health crisis.

"This project will serve as a mark for our Administration and our students will always remember us as leaders of the 10th Student Government Association at TU" President Samah said.

He told the Press Bureau that the project is an extension of the student center on the main campuses of Tubman University.

President Samah lamented that the Student Government Association firstly decided to construct a Bus Stop in Pleebo for the students residing in the City of Pleebo but the idea didn't materialize because relevant authorities couldn't find a suitable place for the construction of the bus stop.

He further disclosed that the leadership don't want to invest money in a structure that will not be used by the students.
"Therefore, I decided to redirect the funds to the construction of a palava hut at the annex, a place where our students can sit while awaiting their classes and discuss political issues that can shape our University's destiny"
he noted.
For his Part, Tubman University Student Clubs and Activities officer, Mr. Joeranzo Nyanti who represented the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, Rev. Mathew B. Akinsulure thanked the Student Government Association for their farsightedness.
Mr. Nyanti noted that the project is very important because it will not only hold students but several activities will always be held at the new center.
"I see this modern Palava hut project as a multi purpose project and will host other activities that will also be held by the Division of Students Affairs" Mr. Nyanti added.

The project cost which is put at $ 2, 859.81 United States Dollars kicks off right after the ground breaking ceremony on Monday and it is expected to be completed within three (3) weeks.
