While I was on break, His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. appointed me on a 15-man Asset Recovery Core Team with a clear mandate to locate, recover, and retrieve stolen public resources and properties in and out of Liberia.
The issuance of Executive Order No. 126 further testifies to President Boakai’s unhindered willpower to stamp out public sector corruption, and it does reaffirm his campaign pledge to guarantee accountability and transparency in public service.
The necessity to recover stolen resources and retrieve illicit assets is not just a good governance practice but a matter of national inevitability. Those who’ve stolen from THE PEOPLE must fully account in accordance with The Rule of Law. The Liberian people deserve to know what happened to their resources (e.g. assets) yesteryear. The people need answers to unexplained and unjustified wealth.
We thank Pres. Boakai for this conscious and nationalistic step in pursuit of State criminals and ALL those who have abused entrusted power for private gain. This step will not just build back TRUST and confidence in our governance system but it will deter corruption and moderate deepened socio-economic inequality in Liberia.
We are grateful to be preferred as a member of Pres. Boakai’s anti-corruption crusade. We will do our best to deliver tangible result(s) through professional, procedural, legal, ethical, and impartial mechanisms/means. We will not just combine our collective expertise and experience as a core team but leverage international and domestic capacities and partnerships to trace, freeze, confiscate, and dispose of stolen/illicit assets using THE LAW as a basis for ALL pursuits and/or action
