Recap of Day 1 Activities of Vice President Koung Led Delegation to China. Equipment Inspection, Verification of Quality of Bids for “Yellow Machines” Contract.
Vice President Jeremiah Koung embarked on a productive tour of the Sany Heavy Machinery Factory in Changsha City today, as part of his important visit to China in anticipation of the acquisition of 285 yellow machines for Liberia.
During discussions with Sany executives, VP Koung highlighted the significance of value for money and emphasized the commitment of the Boakai-Koung administration to drive transformative initiatives in Liberia. Following this engagement, he and his delegation traveled to Jining City, Shandong Province, on a brief two-hour flight.
Upon arrival at the Jining City airport, VP Koung received a warm welcome from the President and executives of Shantui Construction Machinery Company LTD. Engaging in meaningful conversations with the Shantui team, he conveyed Liberia's strong interest in collaborative opportunities, and the executives expressed their eagerness to establish a productive partnership that benefits both parties.
Shantui specializes in the assembly of bulldozers, along with research and development, and the manufacturing of electronic automated machinery. After concluding his visit to the Shantui factories, the Vice President headed to the Sheng Du Hotel for a banquet hosted in his honor by the Municipal Government of Jining City, further strengthening diplomatic ties and showcasing Liberia's commitment to international collaboration.
Accompanying the Vice President are Minister of Public Works Roland Giddings; Executive Director of the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC), Bodger Scott Johnson; Deputy Director for Operations at the General Services Agency (GSA), Robert Wilson; and Assistant Minister for Budget at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Sarah Mulbah.
