President Weah Worships at Black Jina Central Mosque; Says Religious Tolerance Essential for Peace

Monrovia, Liberia - The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah has sermonized the importance of religious tolerance as an essential element to the maintenance of peace and harmony in Liberia.

Religious tolerance, he said, fosters cohesive leadership and singular national purpose necessary to provide the opportunity and platform for people of diverse beliefs to co-relate and cohabitate in the national interest.

Speaking Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Thanksgiving & Intercessory Service held at the Black Jina Central Mosque in Jacob Town, President Weah asserted that his belief in both Islam and Christianity helps crystalize his receptiveness for religious tolerance.

"I grew up in Gilbratar and had the opportunity to attend Islamic School, while my grandma taught me the doctrine of the Christian faith. All of this has helped me to espouse religious tolerance," President Weah told Muslim worshippers.

He said that when Christians and Muslims live together as one, peace is bound to take root, and the country prospers.

He added that while in Israel, he was taken to a site where people of all faiths including Muslims, Christians and Jews go to pray, something which he said means that "we all can live together and love each other."

President Weah called on Liberians to unite in protecting religious diversity and national harmony towards making Liberia, now at 176, a great country.

The President also appealed to Liberians to demonstrate the highest of maturity during the October 10 polls by voting peacefully so that Liberia's credential as the oldest African independent country is not shattered.

President Weah thanked people of the Islamic faith for the love they continue to show him while urging them to remain law-abiding, peaceful, and contributive to the development of the country.

He told the worshippers that he is part of them, that they are his family, emphasizing that it is because of their support and their vote, he was elected president in 2017.

President Weah told the Islamic worshippers that more and more Muslim children needed to be given greater learning opportunities to enable them to harness their potentials and become better citizens by contributing to the wellbeing of society.

Thanksgiving and Intercessory Service is part of activities earmarked for the observance of the national independence celebration.

For immediate release!

July 25, 2023
Monrovia, Liberia:

The Unity Party Youth Congress District #16 Chapter (UPDYC) uses this restrum to appreciate our workaholic, passionate, innovative and fearless Senator Abe Darius Dillon for the tremendous work he has done over the period of time reposed in him by the people of Montserrado County.

Senator Abe Darius Dillon has graduated a huge number of Disadvantage young Liberians (Zogos) who were addicted to drugs from his mental rehabilitation center few days ago.

Senator Dillon who goes by the name "The Light" has again proven to the people of Montserrado that he is the Panacea of bad legislation in our beloved Country.

This process of rehabilitating our young brothers and sisters mentally from the streets started as early as January of this year, which provides them the metamorphosis of becoming useful Citizens in the society once again.

The people of the county will support you fully in this your quest as you continue to deliver exceptionally.

We appreciate and applaud your tireless effort to ensure our brothers and sisters are well taken care of and are now being perverted for a better tomorrow.

Nevertheless, the (UPDYC) has followed your workings at the national Legislature, and wants to say Kudos to you Sir, your honesty and just fight is for the common good of the ordinary Liberians.
We will forever remember you for your fight against corruption and bad governance like a lone voice crying in the wilderness to ensure the right things are done at all costs.

The failed CDC regime starves the young people into abject poverty, unemployment, injustice, and poor socio-inclusion for qualified Liberians, we promise to correct that mistake that was made in 2017 by electing a 'clever in the feet but dull in the head' president.

The CDC led-government is a total failure to the people of this country.
This regime failed to provide foreign investment to the citizens so as to strengthen the private sector for empowerment and other socio-corporate initiatives for all Liberians.

These are some of the major factors that led to the high unprecedented figure of young people being on the streets as a means of sustainability.

As Liberians prepare to unseat Mr. Weah and his gangs of thieves from the executive mansion comes October 10, 2023, we acknowledge your full participation as the campaign Chairman/Coordinator of Montserrado County for the Rescue Mission.

Selecting you was never a mistake because of your historical record of defeating the failed CDC government in Montserrado county twice.
The RESCUE mission is inevitable, unbending, unwavering and uncompromising.

The 'One round victory' is the people's victory, the district #16 Youth Tendency which is the biggest Youth Youth Movement, will hand-deliver district #16 to JNB & JKK on the 10th of October of this year.

We are calling on every well meaning Liberian to come out on October 10 to cast your vote for transparency, accountability, integrity, Youth empowerment and socio-economic empowerment for all Liberians.

THINK LIBERIA, LOVE LIBERIA AND BUILD LIBERIA!

Signed:_______________
UNITY PARTY DISTRICT #16 YOUTH CONGRESS!!

Liberia:Ministry of Education frowns on the high increase of graduation fees for 12th graders by school administrators, says it is against the new academic calendar

Speaking on ELBC Wednesday, MOE Communication Director Maxim Bleetan urged both private and public schools to stop requesting more money from parents for this year’s graduation, thus terming the high increase in graduation fees as an intent to exploit struggling parents, something he claimed is against the policy of the Ministry of Education.

The MOE Communications Director quoted the Ministry’s policy as saying, according to page 24 and 25 of the new Academic Calendar, the amount for Graduation fees for 12th Graders in Public Schools is $5,000 Liberian Dollars and US$ 100 Dollars for Private schools across the Country.

According to him, it is mandatory that all school administrators adhere to the Academic Calendar of the Ministry of Education that was adopted in September of 2022 which provides direction on graduation fees.

He at the same time frowned on Senior High schools administrators for graduating 6th and 9th Graders, noting that they are only obligated to graduate 12th and K-2 students.

He disclosed that only elementary schools should be allowed to graduate both 6th and K-2 students but those operating Junior High Schools should put out only 9th and K-2 students for graduation.

Bleetan insisted that schools across the Country are only allowed to graduate 12th graders upon the release of the 2023 WASSCE Results.

He is hereby calling on all parents and the general public to report schools intentionally going against the policy of the Ministry of Education, stressing that schools going against the Ministry’s Policy will be penalized accordingly.

Weeks online TV news

Thousands of 12th graders from across Liberia have gathered at the headquarters of the CDC Party to express their gratitude to President George Weah for his efforts in paying their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSEC) fees. The CDC Party is the political party of President Weah and has been instrumental in the successful implementation of the payment of the WASSEC fees.

The payment of the WASSEC fees is part of the government's efforts to make education more accessible and affordable to all Liberians. The President had pledged to pay the fees of all 12th graders who were registered to write the WASSEC exams in 2018. This gesture has brought great relief to the students who faced financial challenges in paying the fees.

The CDC Party headquarters was filled with excitement as the students cheered and sang songs of praise for the President and the Party. The atmosphere was one of celebration and gratitude as the students acknowledged the impact of the President's gesture on their lives.

Many of the students who spoke at the event expressed their appreciation for the payment of their fees, stating that it has lifted a heavy burden off their shoulders. They also commended the President for his commitment to the education of the youth of Liberia and for his efforts in making education accessible to all.

The payment of the WASSEC fees has been hailed as a significant victory for the education sector in Liberia. It is seen as a step towards fulfilling the government's promise of providing free education to all Liberians. It is also a testament to the government's commitment to investing in the future of the country by empowering its youth through education.

In his speech at the event, President Weah expressed his delight at the students' turnout and reiterated his commitment to providing quality education for all Liberians. He stated that education is a critical tool for national development and that his government would continue to invest in education to ensure that every Liberian has access to quality education.

The gathering of thousands of students at the CDC Party headquarters to express their appreciation for the payment of their WASSEC fees is a clear indication of the impact of the President's gesture on the lives of the students. It is also a reminder that access to education should not be limited by financial constraints. As Liberia continues to make strides towards a brighter future, the government's commitment to investing in education must remain a top priority.
