The Department of Computer and Information Sciences (DCIS) program introduced at the University of Liberia will allow young Liberians who cannot afford (including my yanaboy pekin dem) to attend PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS, the opportunity to study IT-related disciplines of their choosing.
The UL will partner with various institutions in the USA (Capitol Tech University in Virginia, University of Delaware, St. Joseph University), Israel, and Norway, and so on. The UL will initially offer a B.Sc in Information Technology with FOUR concentrations:
1. Software Engineering
2. Cybersecurity
3. Data Science
4. Networking Technologies
The UL was founded in 1862 as Liberia College and became the University of Liberia in 1951. Since then, and being the largest tertiary institution in Liberia, it has never had a Computer Science or IT-Related program. It's high time that it moves toward such initiative.
The Program starts in October 2021.
We now have a chance to build a REPOSITORY of ICT professionals that will give us that "DIGITAL LIBERIA" we have so passionately sought, for so many years.
It can only get better!!!!
