My Story:
The screams shattered my morning doze. Liberia, 2003, the final wave of the Civil War. We scrambled out of bed, my heart hammering against my ribs as Mom’s voice urged us on. Finding refuge at the American Embassy in Mamba Point was a stroke of luck. Greystone, as it was called, became our haven until the storm passed.
Zoe Louise Prep and Shirley Kolmer boasted well-rounded curriculums, and my name became a fixture on the honor roll, semester after semester.
At 11, I wasn’t just passionate about my community, I was a one-man tournament organizer. Dust Field, behind Barnersville Estates, became our pitch as I rallied my team for neighborhood glory. Even on the dusty field, the seeds of leadership were sown.
My passion for Liberia has always been there, and it was on that field that I envisioned a future dedicated to helping others thrive.
Liberia’s history is a symphony of resilience, its culture is rich and vibrant. I want to explore it with fellow Liberians who share this burning desire.
