The Minister of State and Chief of Office Staff to Pres. Joe Boakai, Min. Sylvester Grisby, has come under intense pressure from “rescue” Senator Amara Konneh of Gbarpolu County, requesting his resignation.

As recalled, Mr. Grisby, while serving as Senior Advisor to then President-elect Joe Boakai (not yet taken state power), instructed NASSCORP’s Director General to purchase 5 new Landcruiser jeeps, each costing a whopping US$ 117,000, with disregard to the PFM and PPCC Acts. According to the Gbarpolu Senator, “it’s wrong to use petitioners’ money to fund government operations.” The letter addressed to the President which was co-signed by Montserrado County’s Senator Abe Darius Dillon, has urged the President to let go of his CoS and reprimand the NASSCORP boss for allowing to be used in such a way.

Was Mr. Grisby’s action carried out alone without the knowledge of the then President-elect Joe Boakai?

Our spotlight today is on Mohammed Jalliba, a Liberian studying at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy; the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Mohammed graduated with the Centennial Class at the University of Liberia in 2019, topping the Department of Economics and concomitantly the Business College. After his graduation and due to his brilliance, he got recruited by then Commissioner General Thomas Doe-Nah at the Liberia Revenue Authority(LRA) to serve his country— the place he served till his departure to the Asian country, Singapore, for his master’s in Public Policy.

Mohammed is an education enthusiast. He has completed his courses at NUS and is only waiting for the formal graduation later this year. Upon his graduation, Mohammed will return to Liberia to contribute to its growth and development in every way possible. Congratulations 🎉

The pending establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia has caused brouhaha not just among the citizens but politicians in both the House of Representatives and Senate. Earlier this week, the Senate, just like the House of Representatives, signed the resolution on the court’s establishment but it appears like the senators were forced by an external power to have the documents signed as Allen White was seen looking on. After giving his signature, Rivercess County’s senator, Hon.

Bill Twehway, remarked, “I want this War Crimes Court to target Liberians in America who collected money to support the war……. We want to know who opened the cell (in America) to free Taylor who eventually came here and more than 250,000 of our citizens lost their lives in war.”
