Press Statement for Immediate Release

Office of Hon Munah E. Pelham-Youngblood
Representative, District #: 9 Montserrado County
Email: [email protected] Tel: +231 777638617

Attn:
Media Practitioners, Residents of District #: 9, Followers of News outlets (Traditional and Social Media) and the General Public

February 24, 2020: The Office of Rep Munah E. Pelham-Youngblood, representative of electoral district 9, Montserrado County has refuted the claim that Hon Pelham-Youngblood instructed some of her supporters to brutalize resident(s) of the district who was attending the district Town Hall Meeting intended for the lawmaker to present her annual report. This alleged claim has been reported on social media and other traditional media (radio & newspapers) without independently verifying it.

Hon Pelham-Youngblood’s office further clarifies that the gathering was peaceful from start to end and that there was no report of violence, neither an act of lawlessness reported; nor brought to the attention of the lawmaker. The office marvels on why people will be parading on social media accusing the district lawmaker of being the mastermind of said allegation. The office calls on individuals residing in the district to focus on vices that will bring development and promote peace and reconciliation rather than venturing on an unachievable propaganda with selfish political interest. The release states that the claim has no iota of truth as those making said allegation cannot disclose the name of the victim nor the perpetrator in such an unwarranted situation.

Additionally, the release is quoted that the Honorable remains a peaceful person as the representative of the district and will not support any act of hooliganism that has the propensity to endanger the safety of other peaceful citizens, and as such the office is willing to assist a genuine/sincere investigation to establishing the validity of the assertion been made—although the allegation is still treated as been unsubstantiated as those making the allegation have not presented pieces of evidence to substantiate such claim.

Electoral Dstrict #: 9 Delegates Approved District's project in a Town hall sitting

09/29/2019: Delegates from across the 21 communities of electoral district 9, Montserrado County assembled at the Symthe Institute on 16th Street, Sinkor on September 29, 2019 at about 4pm as a mean of tradition to discuss and reach decision on the usage of the allotment made to the District.

The sitting which was presided over by the senior staff (Mr. Peal Nyenkan) within the office of Representative Munah E. Pelham-Youngblood in consultative with the Honorable lawmaker (Hon Pelham-Youngblood) while away, the District Development Council chairman (Mr. Larry Zarwolo) and the District Management Team brought together over 200 delegates.

Reading the overview and special message from the Hon lawmaker from the United States of America by Mr. Kanty A. Doe, the lawmaker extended her heartfelt greetings to the peace loving people of electoral district 9 as she dispelled rumors of her incapacitation and assure the people of the district that she will be home soon by the special grace of God. Mr. Doe through the lawmaker statement to the delegates said the sitting is not the regular town hall meeting where the Honorable present her annual report on the affairs of the district. The sitting was intended to discuss projects and money the government set aside for the district that is managed by the superintendent and not the lawmaker. By law, it is the business of the lawmaker to call the people of the district and inform them about said money.

According to the overview of the sitting, for 2018/2019 the GOL approved 207,000USD which represents CDF to Montserrado County. Only 100,000 USD was paid to the County at the ratio of 40% USD & 60%LRD. From this payment, every district and the two senators was allotted 1000USD and 288,000LRD as per County Caucus Resolution. With said amount, nothing could have being done in terms of serious project due to the amount. Said money was decided upon to support the country Team in the National County meet at the County's sitting and settled the County outstanding arrears. For the SDF 2018/2019, the current appropriation to the district is $20,000 across to all the districts including the 2 senators. Said money is from the payments received from China Union representing unpaid funds owed to the County.

Decision/resolution

Delegates at the just ended sitting unanimously voted that the entire US$20,000 be used to construct a concrete footpath bridge linking Pennoh Hill, Barclay Avenue and Fiamah

Statement on District 9, Montserrado County State of Affairs—Amidst Hon. Pelham-Youngblood temporary visit to the U.S

June 25, 2019: The office of Hon Pelham-Youngblood releases the current state of affairs of electoral district 9, Montserrado County contrary to speculations within the district by provocateur elements bent on spreading falsehood for undeserved political reason. The statement re-echo the second term vocal female lawmaker commitment to adequately represent the grateful people of her constituency as promised.

Accordingly, the office recounts that they are in direct contact with the District Development Council comprising of all community leaders wide-ranging of chairpersons, youth representatives and women as well as the physically challenged and the religious communities respectively. The statement historicizes that while the Honorable is away and as matter of living by her promises; a major drainage opening was carried out within the PUC community in curbing the re-occurrence of flowing, while a stakeholders meeting amongst members of the DDC was held in March this year for the expansion of the same drainage cleaning exercise in other communities which have been planned and ready to kick-off days from onward.

Still demystifying the falsehood relative to the district being abandoned, the release informs the general public that as part of Hon Pelham-Youngblood traditional way of respecting religious tolerance, the office during the 2019 Ramadan’s climaxing presented assorted food materials including a giant size cow to the D-9 Muslim community.

The Office discloses that while the lawmaker is away temporarily, her inputs and impacts are duly exerted at the level of the National Legislature through the various committees that she serves.

In conclusion, Hon Pelham-Youngblood is quoted “…I see people posting some tasks carried out by some individuals in the district, great. What they just did, I have being doing this for over 8 years and still committed to doing it. However, I am trying and recovering very well. I have served the people of this beloved district for 8 years now and will continue to do so; but to be absence for few months can never be an issue for the loving people that I am representing. Only the noisy few and unrealistic, unpopular; uneducated and unreasonable individuals are less busy and trying to find something to make them active. However, those that are asking for me to resign please don't worry I hear you very well. Your message is clear but with no logic and legality... Please be focus and let's keep the district alive till I return. Stay blessed. From district 9 political iron rock. Honorable talk and do”. She stated in the District Chatroom.
