Christ United Football Academy CEO Calls For More Attention and Investment to Grassroot Football In Liberia follow Liberia Failure to Qualify for AFCON since 2006.
The Young CEO of of Christ United Football Academy Edwin Sheriff has urged the Government of Liberia, Football Lovers stakeholders in all sector to support and invest into grassroot football.
In a Messenger Call, speaking to Grassroots Sports Promoter Lamah Peter in an interview
said:
🗣 There are thousands of raw talented kids across the Country, who need our supported especially from the grassroot level, it will help improve the game faster.
"He stressed that it is now time to focus more on the Young talents for the betterment and the Future of Grassroots Football in Liberia.
Mr. Sheriff who have so much passion for the game and want the betterment for young children at the same time, has been encouraging young players not to see football as all to life but should also build their capacity in other areas.
Said 🗣” The game is a short time career as such, it is key to back it up with other professional skills so that tomorrow after Football there is life that which one need to prepared at head of time “, he emphasized.
As part of his experience working with those kids and said venture, Edwin stated that at Christ United Football Academy, His Plans and vision are mostly focus on capacity building of those kids, by teaching them how to become Hardworking, good citizens and national leaders for tomorrow apart from playing the game.
🗣 Edwin “I interact with most of my Academy players parents and and we normally talk more as well as teaching them apart from playing the game, the parents also look upon me to help their children who may not be performing well in school and the partnership is good and it is working well”, he explained.
Moreover, he recommended that the Ministry of Youths and Sports, Liberia Football Association (LFA) should now introduce an exposure program for the academy players.
By exposure, he meant that the young kids should feature at every big national game, organize more Grassroots Preseason tournaments in all 15 counties, before the official match something he pointed out if done will give the young talents more confidence.
” It is good for them to play over and again and in front of large crown and this will help them greatly and it will also make them to be familiar with the local leagues as well as local players “, he added.
In this year Bigest Grassroots Football tournament which is called The Diaspora International Play for Peace Youth Soccer Tournament Montserrado which will kickoff this month November 22-23, have invited Christ United Football Academy with other promising Grassroots Academy across Montserrado to Participate.
