The Management of the National Transit Authority once again regrets the unfortunate situation leading to the fire incident that have caused a total burned of it's Administrative Building and an anex at her Head offices in Gardnersville along the Japan's freeway on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at about 2:25am, call on the public to desist from speculations and misinformation while investigations are ongoing.
The Management is fully aware that this unfortunate and regrettable situation have caused a serious public outcry and speculations permeating both social, electronic and other independent media outlets within and outside of the country. Claims and canterclims leading to the caused of the desister. While it is true that the Managing Director Hon. Herbie T. McCauley, Jr., In an official Press conference on May 5, 2022 pleaded for an official Forensic fire investigation to be conducted, we want to send this as a professional caveat to those parading with falsehood and blackmails against the entity and it's Managing's Director Hon. Herbie T. McCauley, Jr. we will not hesitate in taking legal action against anyperson caught in the act misinforming the public regarding this unfortunate situation and backbreaking the characters of heads of the entity (NTA).
We want to once again clarified that the total amount of monies that were kept in our saves after reports submitted by our Bus crew to the cashier supervisor upon returned from various outstations routes which are normally during after banking hours and were deposited at our local saves within the cash room was , Eight Hundred and Ninety Thousand Liberian Dollars. 890.000LD,( Liberian Dollars.) Nine Million 9000000 Sierra Leonean Leons 🇸🇱 (serra Leon currency.) and 600USD, (United States Dollars).
Hence, news permeating the media that the total amount of money that got burned during the disaster was Nine Million 9.000000LD,( Liberian Dollars), is false and misleading. We believed that this is only intended to mislead the public and tarnish the hard earned reputations of the Managing Director and his deputies.
We once again want to acknowledged that this is the most difficult situation for us at the (NTA ), a Public institution committed to providing affordable and reliable public transportation services to vast majority of the citizenry across the country.
The management of the National Transit Authority want to once again restate that it encourages independent investigations and whistle blowers who are willing to aid in the ongoing investigation .We are deeply sad about this heartbreaking situation but remained committed to providing services to the public during these difficult times. Please don't not hesitate in reaching out to us if the need be through words of consolations or other inquiries needed surrounding the outbreak.
