CDC Firmly Denies False Claims that ‘Pro-government Supporters are Planning Protest against U.S. Amb. Michael McCarthy; Says Amb. McCarthy Continues to Play a Positive Role to Improve Relations Between the CDC-led Government and the Government and People of the United States of America.

(MONROVIA - LIBERIA, NOVEMBER 16, 2022)

The Coalition For Democratic Change (CDC) strongly dismisses as baseless and untrue reports attributed to the November 15, 2022 Publication of an Online Blog, ‘Smart News Liberia’, in which it falsely speculated that "WE WILL FORCE HIM OUT OF LIBERIA - PRO GOV'T SUPPORTERS PLAN PROTEST AGAINST U.S. AMB. MICHAEL MCCARTHY". The online blog asserts that individuals purporting to be supporters of the CDC-led government made unwholesome remarks on a local Radio Station against the United States Ambassador to Liberia, Ambassador Michael McCarthy.

The National Executive Committee of the Coalition for Democratic Change refutes these baseless assertions as the workings of detractors who may be impersonating as Pro-Government Supporters, with malicious intent to tarnish the government of Liberia’s reputation and ruin the cordial bilateral ties between the Weah administration and the United States of America.

The Coalition for Democratic Change led by H.E. Dr. George M. Weah wishes to make unequivocally clear that the CDC WILL NEVER confront the United States of America in the conveyance of her official policies. The CDC believes in tolerance, freedom of expression and will continue to uphold these cherished values irrespective of disagreements.
Moreover, the CDC has multiple diplomatic channels at its disposal through which constructive engagements can be respectfully sought when and if necessary, in areas of mutual concerns.

Ambassador McCarthy is a good friend of Liberia’s transformative agenda under the dynamic leadership of H.E. President George Manneh Weah, and a respected senior member of the diplomatic community. The Coalition for Democratic Change can attest to his commitment to respect, inclusive dialogue, democratic values and laudable support for Liberia’s national development goals including the training of many young Liberian professionals through the Mandela Washington Fellowship Program. Hence, the Coalition For Democratic Change views Ambassador McCarthy as a viable success partner who continues to provide frank assessments on policies of the administration.

The Coalition for Democratic Change, irrespective of the political persuasions of the alleged masterminds of the outrageous utterances, condemns the verbal attacks against the United States Ambassador to Liberia Michael McCarthy, and cautions all members of the CDC to take due cognizance and refrain from making comments considered reckless, offensive and unpatriotic.

The Coalition for Democratic Change hereby reaffirms its commitment to peace, stability, the rule of law including the respect for diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited to Liberia in conformity with Liberia’s international obligations under the Vienna Convention.

As Liberia's premier and traditional ally, the United States continues, through her foreign assistance programs and her embassy near Monrovia, to support Liberia's development drives, a feat which continues presently with the Weah administration. The US-Liberian partnership flourishes and continues to be strengthened through the stewardship of several Ambassadors assigned to Monrovia, including the current Ambassador Michael McCarthy. We, as a people, remain forever in Washington’s debt of gratitude for the incomparable assistance mentioned supra and call on all supporters of the Weah-led administration to show respect and continue to appreciate the U.S. diplomatic mission and not give in to politics of disinformation and propaganda.

Hence, the CDC remains focused on preparations for its December 20th Nomination Program, which comes after the successful launch of its Due Payments Drive; and hereby calls on all its partisans, well-wishers and supporters of the Weah administration not to be a part of anyone making statements against the Ambassador. Tanzania's biggest air flight carrying 43 passengers sinks into Africa’s largest lake, Lake Victoria.

17 people are reportedly said to be dead while 26 survivors have been rescued. BBC reports rescue workers and local fishermen are on the move to see if they can find more survivors.

The plane was flying from Tanzania's biggest city, Das es Salaam, to a local town, Bukoba.

Harper: Reports from Harper district, Maryland County say Residents of Doukudi town have traditionally blocked the West African Power Pool main connection at the Ivorian border in Harper District promting the outage of electricity in Maryland. They used palm branches to tie around the poles containing lights in the area which automatically turned off the power.

Residents of the town said their action is as a result of their community being disconnected since the inception of electricity in Maryland.

The inhabitants indicated that they have since been promised by authorities of Maryland County to ensure their connection but to no avail.

The control system of the West African Power pool is situated at the Doukudi border in Harper District. Meanwhile electricity will be off in Maryland until the traditional blockage is removed from the Poles.

A Rwandan 🇷🇼 woman, RwaMugabekazi Lilliane (24) was arrested & charged with public indecency after wearing a revealing dress at a concert by popular French musician Tayc in Kigali on the 9th August 2022. She’s currently in jail as she wait to hear her fate in court.

• “She is suspected to have committed public indecency,” the spokesman for the prosecution, Faustin Nkusi, told AFP, adding that the court would announce on Tuesday whether she would receive bail.

• News of the arrest sparked outrage among some Rwandans, but government officials including former justice minister Johnston Busingye backed the move, according report by NWANZO TV .

Prophet Fadiga writes, I watched a graphic video of the young lady, Zainab Fawaz, who died in a tragic motor vehicle accident about a week ago. As a father of two daughters, I can only imagine what her parents are going through. I felt sick in the stomach watching the video. What saddens me the most is that this tragedy could have been avoided.

About five years ago, we lost another young man—a talented musical artist, Quency B, to a motor vehicle accident due to drunk driving. I wrote an article on how we could turn the tragedy into something positive. Unfortunately, our policymakers are only interested in enriching themselves and looting the country. In most responsible countries, policymakers create public policy to deter or prevent acts that may cause senseless deaths.

Drunk driving, driving without a seatbelt, driving with a high beam in urban areas, speeding, and reckless driving are driving violations that could be deterred or prevented. One easy way to hold people accountable for traffic violations is to hurt their pockets. For example, when you issue a USD 175.00 ticket for drunk driving in Liberia, drivers would think twice before driving and driving. Third offense, the driver should be imprisoned and his driver’s license revoked. All of these simple strategies helped to create law and order and prevent deaths. Rest in peace, Zainab. You were so pretty. It saddens me that you left this world so soon in an accident that doesn't make sense.

Then the Progressives came with their revolution and the civil war, and led us to destroy the 100-year nation and systems our fathers had built. Now, we might take another 100 years to rebuild.

Sad news from Zorzor District Lofa County where angry residents set a truck ablaze after it reportedly hit and killed a motorcyclist between Sucromu and Zorzor City.

I'm broken down right now upon seeing this. I sometimes wonder what is the essence of life; when someone dies he/she automatically lost hold of the material existence of the earth. There's absolutely nothing in this our one world, the best you can do is to contribute to the lives of others.

It pins me enough to see people die, from circumstances – like these– that would possibly not happen if the driver had compassion to probably slow down thereby allowing the brother to pass.

To all the bike riders, please be careful on how to go about running the traffic, too much rushing puts you and the individual you're carrying at risk. We only have one life, don't take unnecessary chance that has the potential of strangulating families, because people depend on you as well as the passenger you're carrying.

To those in cars, trucks,s, etc. the motorbike riders are not animals they too have families like you, not many people choose to take bike riding as a career, times are hard, and these are the only alternatives they have. Please help safe lives today, you never know.

We look forward to the police detachment of Zorzor for further outcome of the situation. As it stands, we want to express our deepest condolences to the bereaved family, and relatives.

The shooting incident left one person dead with the co**se currently deposited at the John F. Kennedy hospital.

Human Rights Lawyer, Chief Malcolm Omirhobo, Storms Supreme Court Dressed In Native Doctor Attire, After The Apex Court Ruled That Muslim Students Can Wear Hijab To Schools In Lagos.

According to reports, when the Learned Lawyer walked into the Supreme Court, the Justices who were on seat looked up in shock, looked at themselves and without a word, went on recess.

Police in Caresburg District arrests 22 years old Melvin Bagbo in connection with the death of Theophilus Dakun in Johnsonville.

Police in Caresburg District has arrested a 22, year-old man Melvin Bagbo in connection with the death of late Theophilus Dakun in Johnsonville.

According to the report, suspect Melvin Bagbo on June 19, of this year, allegedly stabbed victim Theophilus Dakun with some harmful instruments in his girlfriend's room in Green land, Johnsonville township.

The record shows that the late Theophilus Dakun and suspect Melvin Bagbo were in a relationship with a lady identified as Promise Matilda who is now at the Headquarters of the Liberia National Police - LNP

Before his death, Theophilus has gone to the home of Promise Matilda for a visit and sources said he was locked up indoors by Promise who later noticed that Suspect Melvin was around the house.

Police investigation states that suspect Melvin later used the opportunity to climb into the ceilings of the house and got into the room and stabbed victim Theophilus Dakun several times which led to his death.

Meanwhile the Caresburg Police Detachment will later transfer him to the LNP headquarter in Central Monrovia before being forwarded to court.

Yambio man allegedly r***d by 18 girls

Police in Western Equatoria State have detained 18 teenagers for allegedly hunting men down for s*x. The girls, aged between 10-15, are members of a group cone named ‘Nanziri Kumbakuadee’ – an Zande phrase meaning “How sweet are married men’.

The underage ladies of the night are reportedly targeting married men in and around the state capital, Yambio. The were apprehended after allegedly ra**ng a young in Messia Residential Area, west of Yambio town on Sunday night. He was rushed to the hospital but later escaped after sobering up.

“The man was left by the girls unconscious. He was taken to the hospital but escaped after he gained consciousness.” However, Yambio County Police Inspector Maj. Gen. Hessen Girsi denied r**e narrative. “That information is totally wrong,” Maj. Gen. Girsi explained.

“What happened is that we got a report that there is a group of girls in Messia who are searching for men to make s*x with. They are most intoxicated. So, when we got the information we start our work and we got them.

“The total number of members of the group, according to the information we got is that they are 50 but we have arrested 18,” he added. Maj. Gen. Girsi said the girls have not been charged but would undergo rehabilitation before they are handed over to their parents.

“But we did not open the case against them because we want to solve it in another way, socially. If we open the case, it will not be a solution. So now we are running to get their parents so that we sit down and we will involve the ministry of gender, child, and social welfare in how we can help these vulnerable kids,” said Maj. Gen. Girsi.

Police investigate mysterious deaths in Tappita.

Tappita City- Police in Tappita City, lower Nimba County are investigating the mysterious death of 2 children ages 9 & 4 whose lifeless bodies were found in 2 separate wells in the same community.

It was reported on Thursday, June 9, 2022, that two children identify as Handsome-boy Mahn age 9, and Zayzay David age 4, went missing in the Boe Bonlay Town, Boe Administrative District, Electoral district # 6, Nimba County.

According to both parents of the decease, Handsome-boy and Zayzay disappeared from the yard at 2 pm while they both were playing around the house, but was later noticed during the evening hours when they were not seen at their respective homes.

Following the notice of their disappearance, the entire Town lunch a search for them, and their dead dead bodies were discovered in separate wells near the town about 20 minutes' walk away from each other.

Following the discovery of their bodies, a Coroner juror was established to examine their bodies if there was any foul play, meanwhile, the juror's report revealed that there were no parts extracted, no cuts on the both, except for Zayzay whose neck appears broken, something they described as no major foul play.

More details to come as Police continue their investigation.
