Player registration for LPL 2024 begins

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced yesterday (10) that the Overseas Player Registration for the 5th edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) is now in progress.

Accordingly, the overseas players who wish to take part in the upcoming edition can now register themselves under two categories (capped and uncapped) by visiting the registration portal at https://srilankacricket.lk/lpl-player-registration-portal/.

A player is considered ‘capped’ if he has featured in the starting XI of a minimum of one senior match for his country, either in Test, ODI or T20I formats.

A player who has not represented his country but has played first-class cricket at home or T20 in a franchise league sanctioned by a full or associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) will be considered an ‘uncapped player’.

While former Sri Lanka cricketers who play competitive T20 franchise cricket in a franchise league sanctioned by a full or associate member of the ICC can also register themselves via the aforementioned portal.

The SLC says the players are allowed to register their names on or before noon (IST) on 26 April 2024.

The 5th edition of LPL 2024, Sri Lanka’s top-most domestic T20 tournament with an international flavour, will be held from 01 to 21 July.

Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story' To Hit Theaters In September – CinemaCon

co-DC Chief Peter Safran just told Cinemacon attendees that the Warner Bros Sundance acquisition, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story is getting a September theatrical release.

No exact date was specified.

Safran showed a very moving trailer with Reeve’s son’s distress after the horse accident, the actor’s connection to pal Robin Williams and his prep for his role as the Man of Steel in the 1978 Richard Donner classic movie Superman.

Warners snapped up the docu for $15M out of the Park City, UT festival as Deadline first told you.

Super/Man is directed by Ian Bonhote, and Peter Ettedgui and written by the two of them and Otto Burnham. The film is backed by Words + Pictures (a North Road company), Passion Pictures and Misfits Entertainment. The docu features never-before-seen home movies and extraordinary personal archives to reveal how Reeve went from unknown actor to iconic movie star as the ultimate screen superhero. He became an activist after suffering from the horse riding accident that left him quadriplegic and dependent on a ventilator to breathe.

SL U19 victorious in Galle, beats England by 108 runs

Sri Lanka Women’s Under-19 team defeated their counterparts from England by a dominant 108 runs in the Tri-nations series played between visitors Australia, England and host Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first yesterday (9) with bright and shining conditions in the South coast.

14-year-old youngster Chamodi Praboda stole the show with a fifer (5 wickets) and Dewmi Vihanga chipped in with a brilliant 4-fer. Batting first Sri Lanka Under 19’s posted a competitive total of 226 against England. Rashmika Sewwandi top scored with a brilliant 59 runs. Amu Surenkumar, Sophia Smale and Charis Pavely bagged 2 wickets each for the England outfit. Chamodi Praboda’s brilliant spell of 5/42 caught the eye of every spectator at the Galle Stadium where she unleashed her fullest potential as the youngest player in the team.

‘Pulp Fiction' Stars Reuniting at TCM Classic Film Festival (Exclusive)

Opening night of the TCM Classic Film Festival next week will also serve as a Pulp Fiction reunion.

Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson, Rosanna Arquette and Harvey Keitel are among those joining John Travolta on April 18 for the 30th anniversary, 35mm screening of Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction (1994) at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

Fellow actors Eric Stoltz, Julia Sweeney, Frank Whaley, Phil LaMarr and Burr Steers and producers Lawrence Bender, Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher are expected to be there as well.

As previously announced, actor Billy Dee Williams and makeup artist Lois Burwell will be honored at the 15th annual festival, author Jeanine Basinger will receive the Robert Osborne Award, and Jodie Foster will partake in a hand- and footprint ceremony.
The festival, with the theme "Most Wanted: Crime and Justice in Film," runs through April 21 at venues including the rejuvenated Egyptian Theatre.

Among those scheduled to be on hand for screenings are Allison Anders, Jeremy Arnold, Diane Baker, Donald Bogle, Mel Brooks, Ben Burtt, Mario Cantone, Keith Carradine, Cora Sue Collins, Jeff Daniels, Millie De Chirico, Dana Delany, The Hollywood Reporter's Scott Feinberg, George Feltenstein, David Fincher, Kate Flannery, Carl Franklin, Morgan Freeman, Diane Lane, Ken Jennings, Rian Johnson, John Landis, Mike Newell, Floyd Norman, Seth MacFarlane, Leonard Maltin, Nancy Meyers, Alexander Payne, Dean Pitchford, Edoardo Ponti, Tim Robbins, Alan K.
