Two sets of social media posts circulated claiming that well-known public figures were preparing to contest provincial council elections, former Army Commander General Shavendra Silva with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), and popular tuition teacher Dinesh Mutugula (“Mutugula Sir”) with either the SJB or the United National Party (UNP). Fact Crescendo investigated both claims and found them to be false.
