We created a calendar and notebook that can be planted in your backyard, that will produce a basket of fruit and veggies. Instead of doing a calendar and a notebook that will be discarded at the end of the year, we came up with the idea to create a calendar that is made of seed paper that you can plant.
The Life Calendar and Life Notebook are part of an initiative that we did in collaboration with one of our inspiring and amazing clients, Nations Trust Bank. This calendar and notebook is made from 100% biodegradable paper with embedded seeds, they are capable of producing fruits and vegetables ensuring the calendar outlasts its primary use and keeps giving back.
When we set out to create something socially impactful and sustainable, we set ourselves a challenge with all the uncertainties that surrounded us at the time. The innovation and resourcefulness by the entire team resulted in us creating everything required for the project from scratch. This included sourcing the vegetable and fruit seeds, crafting the recycled paper and manually screen-printing each sheet to preserve the seed.
The production team included designers, entrepreneurs, social workers, printers and a special team of unique female volunteers who handcrafted each sheet of paper, ensuring each page was one of a kind. Kudos to the team at Nations Trust Bank, Hemantha, Sanjaya, Romesh and Lakmali, for trusting in something better and making sustainability not just a value but a way of life.
