The “Janaraja Perahera (Republican Parade) was held today (Feb. 19) after 3 decades. It paraded the streets of Kandy in the afternoon. The perahera which started in front of the Sri Dalada Maligawa, paraded through Dalada Street, Yatinuvara Street and DS Senanayake Street and reached the premises of Sri Dalada Maligawa through King Street. Tusker Kandula of Kelaniya temple carried the Sri Lankan emblem in the Republic Parade, which was colourful with colourful upcountry dances and musical items.

දශක තුනකට පසු, ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාව විසින් පැවැත් වූ ජනරජ පෙරහැර අද(පෙබ.19) දින පස්වරුවේ මහනුවර වීදි සංචාරය කරනු ලැබුවා. ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාව ඉදිරිපසින් ආරම්භ කළ පෙරහැර දළදා වීදිය, යටිනුවර වීදිය හා ඩී.එස් සේනානායක වීදියේ ගමන් කර රජ වීදිය ඔස්සේ ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාව පරිශ්‍රය වෙත පැමිණියා. විචිත්‍රවත් උඩරට නර්තන හා වාදනයන්ගෙන් යුත් සංස්කෘතිකාංග රැසකින් විචිත්‍රවත් වූ ජනරජ පෙරහැරේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා රාජ්‍ය ලාංඡනය රැගෙන යනු ලැබුවේ කැළණියේ කණ්ඩුල හස්ථිරාජයා විසිනී.
