Entering its 50th year of existence, the Ananda College Broadcasting Unit still stands as the frontier of Sri Lankan school media

On 01 November 1886, a new Buddhist Scholastic Foundation was added to a minor, yet growing collection of Buddhist Learning Institutes in the schooling system of the then-Ceylon. During the past 133 years, Ananda College has embraced not only Buddhist broods but also youngsters from all communities in the island by divulging them on the nationalistic and ethical ideals of this realm along with the

positive western principles which were needed back then in order to rise up in the social order. Dating back 48 years, 1973 saw the establishment of the Broadcasting Unit of Ananda College. Throughout its existence for over 4 decades, this organization is considered to be the undeniable innovator in school based media and has proven that it has been accomplishing its duties and responsibilities by systematizing some of the foremost occasions that take place in the school calendar such as the Best Announcer Competition, Inter School Announcing Competition and Sandeshaya Awards. Our principal objective being to process a mass media culture in Sri Lanka with good comportment, the very first reason for the strength behind the success of this praiseworthy organization is the unity of all its members, splendidly directed by our Teachers In-charge and second being our weight on the three main principles: Discipline, Announcing and Organizing. Yet another page in this volume was folded as the Broadcasting Unit stepped into a new year of its existence with the appointment of the Board of Executives for 2021 - 2022. ආනන්ද විද්‍යාලයීය ශිෂ්‍යභට කණ්ඩායම නියෝජනය කරමින් කපිතන් එන්.පී.රණසිංහ සහ ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ ශිෂ්‍යභට කණ්ඩභාර සැරයන් ඩබ්ලිව්.ඒ.එස්.වේරගොඩ මෙම ජනවාරි මස 26 වන දින ඉන්දියාවේ පැවැත්වීමට නියමිත 76 වන ජනරජ දින සැමරුම් උළෙල සඳහා සහභාගී වීමට නියමිතව ඇති බව සතුටින් දන්වා සිටිමු.

මෙම කීර්තිමත් නියෝජනය වෙනුවෙන් ප්‍රවෘත්ති විකාශන ඒකකයේ අපි උණුසුම් සුභ පැතුම් එක් කරන අතර ඔවුන්ගේ ඉදිරි කටයුතු සාර්ථක වේවායි ප්‍රවෘත්ති විකාශන ඒකකයේ අපි ප්‍රාර්ථනා කර සිටිමු.

The Ananda College Cadet Contingent, led by Captain N.P. Ranasinghe and 2024 Contingent Sergeant W.A.S.C. Weragoda, proudly represented the school at India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2024.

The Broadcasting Unit extends heartfelt congratulations to the team and its leaders for this prestigious representation. Their participation marks a proud moment for Ananda College and inspires future generations to excel in leadership and discipline.

Representing the Sri Lankan Scout Troop at the 26th Australian Jamboree, held from 6th to 15th of January, 2025, in Maryborough, Queensland, Australia, Ananda College Scout Nethun Jayasekara joined 10,000 scouts and leaders from around the world, including 33 Sri Lankan participants.

2023 සමස්ත ල‍‍ංකා පාසල් ඇරොබික් ජිම්නාස්ටික් තරගාවලියේ දී වයස අවුරුදු 20න් පහළ බාලක ශූරතාව දිනා ගැනීමට අප විද්‍යාලයීය ඇරොබික් ජිම්නාස්ටික් කණ්ඩායම සමත් වූ බව සතුටින් දැනුම් දෙමු. එමෙන්ම එම වයස් කාණ්ඩයේ දක්ශතම ක්‍රීඩකයාට ලෙසින් සම්මානය දිනා ගන්නට කණ්ඩායම් නායක ඩිත්සුර චමාදිත් සමරතුංගට හැකි විය.

තවද, එම තරගාවලියේ දී දැක්වූ දස්කම් තුළින්, 2023 බස්නාහිර පළාත් ක්‍රීඩා වර්ණ සම්මාන උළෙලේ දී ක්‍රීඩා වර්ණ ලාභීන් බවට පත් වීමට ද අප විද්‍යාලයීය කණ්ඩායමට හැකියාව ලැබී ඇත.

තවත් මෙවැනිම ජයග්‍රහණයන් තුළින් අනඳ කිතුගොස දසදෙස පතුරවන්නට ඔවුන්ට හැකිවේවායි අපි ප්‍රාර්ථනා කර සිටිමු.

Under the captaincy of Ditsura Chamadith Samaratunga, the Aerobic Gymnastics team of Ananda College made history at the 2023 All Island Schools Aerobic Gymnastics Competition winning the U20 boys' category and the captain, Ditsura Chamadith was able to achieve the prestigious title of being the most talented sportsmen in the U20 category. For this exceptional achievement by the captain as well as the team they were praised at the 2023 Western Province Colors Awarding Ceremony.

සමස්ත ලංකා පාසල් ටයිකොන්ඩෝ සංගමය මගින් සංවිධාන කළ සමස්ත ලංකා පාසල් ටයිකොන්ඩෝ තරගාවලියේදී කවීෂ හෙට්ටිආරච්චි වයස අවුරුදු 19න් පහළ රන් පදක්කම ද සෙතික සෙනෙව් වයස අවුරුදු 19න් පහළ 74kg-80kg බර පන්තියේ රිදී පදක්කම ද දේශාන් ජයවීර 80kg-88kg බර පන්තියේ රිදී පදක්කමද සහ අකේන් විජේරත්න වයස අවුරුදු 17න් පහළ ලෝකඩ පදක්කම ද දිනාගනිමින් සමස්ත තරගාවලියේ ම බාලක අංශයේ තෙවන ස්ථානය දිනා ගැනීමට ආනන්ද විද්‍යාලීය ටයිකොන්ඩෝ කණ්ඩායමට හැකි වූ බව සතුටින් දැනුම් දෙමු.

ජයග්‍රාහී ආනන්ද විද්‍යාලයීය ටයිකොන්ඩෝ කණ්ඩායමට ප්‍රවෘත්ති විකාශන ඒකකයේ අපි උණුසුම් සුබ පැතුම් එක්කර සිටිමු.

The Ananda College Taekwondo Team achieved remarkable success at the All-Island Schools Taekwondo Championship held in Anuradhapura, securing third place in the boys' category with 17 points, the team won one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal across different categories.

The Broadcasting Unit extends its warm congratulations to the team on this incredible milestone. May this success pave the way for even greater achievements in the future.

2022 වසරේ බස්නාහිර පළාත් සමස්ත හොඳම මලල ක්‍රීඩකයා ලෙසින් සම්මානයට පාත්‍ර වන්නට අප විද්‍යාලයේ කවීෂ ගිම්හාන් සමත්විය. ඒ පසුගිය දෙසැම්බර් මස 24 වනදා කොළඹ රාජකීය විද්‍යාලයීය නවරඟහලේ දී පැවති බස්නාහිර පළාත් වර්ණ ප්‍රදානෝත්සවයේදී ය.

ඔහුගේ ක්‍රීඩා දිවියේ ඉදිරි වැඩකටයුතු සාර්ථක කර ගැනීමට අනඳ මාතාවගේ සරණ ලැබේවායි අපි ප්‍රාර්ථනා කර සිටිමු.

Anandian D. Kaveesha Gimhan Silva has been recognized as the Best Overall Athlete of the Western Province for the year 2022 at the Western Province colors awarding ceremony held at Royal College "Nawaragahala" on 24th of December 2024. This prestigious title was awarded celebrating his exceptional athletic talent and dedication.

The Broadcasting Unit extends its heartfelt congratulations to Kaveesha on this outstanding recognition. May this honor inspire him to reach even greater heights in his athletic journey.

ඉන්දියාවේ ලක්නව්හි CMS ආයතනය විසින් සංවිධාන කළ 3 වන SAM ජාත්‍යන්තර තරගාවලියේදී පාසල් 46 ක් අභිබවා තරග කාණ්ඩ 8ක් යටතේ ජයග්‍රහණ ලබාගනිමින් එහි සමස්ත ශූරතාව හිමි කරගැනීමට ආනන්ද විද්‍යාලය පසුගිය දා සමත් විය.

විජයග්‍රාහී ආනන්ද විද්‍යාලය නියෝජනය කරමින් සිසුන් 20 දෙනෙකුගේ කණ්ඩායම් මෙහිදී තරග වැදුණු අතර ඔවුන්ට ප්‍රවෘත්ති විකාශන ඒකකයේ අපි, උණුසුම් සුබ පැතුම් මෙයින් එක් කර සිටිමු.

Ananda College emerged as champions at the 3rd SAM International Competition, held by CMS in Lucknow, India, competing against 46 schools from around the world. The college achieved top positions in Percussion Bands, Drama, and the Junior Quiz, alongside numerous other accolades such as the Judges’ Choice Prizes and the Well groomed Group.

සමස්ත ලංකා යොවුන් පිරිමි බොක්සින් ශූරතාවලියේ දී හිමේෂ් පෙරේරා විසින් කිලෝග්‍රෑම් 54-57 බර පන්තියේ ලෝකඩ පදක්කමත් රොනාල් පෙරේරා විසින් 63.5-65 බර පන්තියේ ලෝකඩ පදක්කමත් සහ සසිත් ගමගේ විසින් කිලෝග්‍රෑම් 75-80 බර පන්තියේ ලෝකඩ පදක්කමද දිනාගැනීමට සමත් විය.

ජයග්‍රාහී ආනන්ද බොක්සින් ක්‍රීඩකයින්ට ප්‍රවෘත්ති විකාශන ඒකකයේ අපි උණුසුම් සුභ පැතුම් එක්කර සිටිමු.

Ananda College's talented boxers delivered impressive performances at the All Island Youth Men Boxing Championship 2024. Himesh Perera secured the 3rd place in the 54-57 kg weight category, Ronal Perera clinched the 3rd place in the 63.5-67 kg weight category, and Sasith Gamage achieved the 3rd place in the 75-80 kg weight category.

47වන PESTA-USM ජාත්‍යන්තර හොකී තරගාවලිය සඳහා වන ශ්‍රී ල‍‍ංකා වයස අවුරුදු 18න් පහළ හොකී කණ්ඩායමට අප විද්‍යාලයේ ජනුද රත්නායක තේරී පත්වී ඇති බව සතුටින් දැනුම් දෙමු. මෙම තරගාවලිය එළැඹෙන දෙසැම්බර් මස 20 වනදා සිට 22 වනදා දක්වා මැලේසියාවේ දී පැවැත්වීමට නියමිතය.

මෙම තරගාවලියේ දී උපරිම දස්කම් දක්වමින් අනඳ කිතුගොස දසදෙස පතුරවන්නට ඔහුට හැකිවේවායි අපි ප්‍රාර්ථනා කර සිටිමු.

Anandian Januda Rathnayake has been selected to represent the Sri Lankan U18 Hockey Team at the 47th PESTA-USM International Hockey Tournament, scheduled to be held in Malaysia from December 20th to 22nd.
