On Friday, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the Finnish Parliament, Finland was subjected to cyberattacks and an airspace violation.
The country's Ministry of Defense tweeted early Friday that its website had been hacked and would be unavailable until further notice.
After addressing the issue a few hours later, the department stated that the hack was a denial-of-service attack, which seeks to take down a website so that users cannot access its contents.
According to the ministry's Twitter account, the attack also impacted the websites of the Finnish foreign ministry.
The ministry stated that it was looking into the situation and that its sites would be operational within hours.
Before the hacks, Finland stated that a Russian plane had possibly breached its airspace.
Zelensky spoke to Finland about Russia's invasion of Ukraine amid violations of Finnish airspace and cyberattacks.
The foreign ministry tweeted, "President Zelenskyy presented a historic address to the Parliament today." "Finland stands fully with Ukraine in its fight for independence and democracy. ."
Since Russia invaded Ukraine, which enraged Moscow, Finland has been rethinking its position on NATO membership.
Finland and Sweden were previously threatened by Russia if they sought to join NATO.
"Finland and Sweden should not base their security on endangering the security of other nations," Russian foreign ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova stated shortly after Russia attacked Ukraine.
