National Council for Road Safety-Sri Lanka

National Council for Road Safety-Sri Lanka It is established by the motor traffic act no 05 of 1998 under the purview of Ministry of Transport, Sri Lanka.

The Council consists of a chairman, 15 government organizations including key ministries and 02 non government organizations. Main functions of it are paying compensation for the person who seriously injured or dead by a road traffic accident caused by an inidentified vehicle, and coordinating all road safety events and educating school children, motorists and cyclists and general public on prevention of road traffic accidents and post crash care.
