I found this photos from my husband's cellphone of our damaged house because of the typhoon Odette last year 2021. This picture reminded me of the people who helped my family to recover from that event. It was very depressing year.

We don't know where to get our daily food and viand. But through the help of different organizations from different nations and inside Philippines who donated. We recieved ayuda or goods like rice and lots of canned goods (sardines and noodles mostly).
We learned how to cook different styles of recipes using sardines and noodles para hindi maumay.

Until my husband decided to find work in the city, away from us. But first He made sure were safe. He used the scrap of our roof na nilipad ng bagyo, natanggal and make use those to became our wall (dingding).
Hindi niya kami maiwan na nakatiwangwang ang bahay. Kasi wala na talaga dingding ang ibang side ng bahay lalo na sa kwarto namin.
Wala na kami pictures dinelete yata namin. Nakakadepressed kasi na lagi yun makita sa cellphone.

We don't have money to buy right away ng mga pang bubong at pang dingding. Wala po kami ipon. Dahil sakto lang kita ng husband ko. Actually, hindi namin napaghandaan na talagang ganun kalakas ang bagyo na makasira ng mga bahay at kahit mga building.

In my 37 years of existence, first time ko na experience yung Odette na bagyo na napakalakas as in!

It was very depressing. The entire Siargao was a.k.a lifeless- No internet. Wala kuryente. Wrecked surroundings. Trees down. Wala bigas. kaubusan na. Wala pera. shortage ng gasolina- Nagmahal.Basta! Mostly my parent's Coconuts are gone, di na makakopras. Yun pa naman source of income mga tao dito siargao.

And I remember we celebrated new year without food we used to prepare every new years. But we use that as the starting point to look forward positive. We are happy though that my family, relatives, friends, colleagues, neighbors were safe from that supertyphoon.

We made it!
Unti unti kaming bumangon. And until today... parang hindi na kami dumaan sa bagyo na yun eh.

Nung nagsimulang naggreen na ulit ang paligid. Bumangon ang mga damo. Namulaklak ulit ang mga flowers. Ang mga saging tumubo ulit...naging green na at hindi na gray ang palibot.
Ang mga tao rin ay nakabangon na unti- unti at kahit papano. Kahit di man materially kundi mentally at emotionally.

Yun lang.
