961@Home edition
Civil society and non-governmental organizations have been playing a key role in Lebanon, working very hard to help alleviate poverty, human suffering and inequalities. The need to support this bottom-up activism is greater than ever.
We are so proud of all the Lebanese around the world who, although far away, are helping out the best they can to bring the country back on its feet, showing solidarity and compassion, supporting local initiatives.
Doing good can come in many forms, every little bit helps.
In Montreal, 9 young volunteers have vowed to contribute positively to their home country.
The 961 Collective is helping NGOs based in Lebanon by raising funds and awareness. They do so by bringing people together through collaborative events that showcase both local and international artists.
In order to fulfill their mission digitally, they launched the 961@Home Edition! They are releasing 4 music sets on their SoundCloud page where you can directly donate. ‘Mood Swings’ the first set by Hergé is out.

“Music, images and tales from isolation. From Beirut to the rest of the world [and/or vice versa].
Radio Karantina is a project that conjures together music, stories, and images from quarantine during the exceptional times the world is currently witnessing.
The idea was thought up and created by actor and visual artist Nasri Sayegh, bringing together musicians, artists (such as Rayya Badran, Ghassan Salhab, Mahmoud Merjan, Jessika Khazrik, Abraham Zeitoun, Hatem Imam, Rabih Kayrouz), and individuals who are currently at home in self-isolation to share their intimate playlists and podcasts be they loud, soothing, or contemplative. Something to listen and dance to in the comfort of our homes.
The practice of self-isolating is a test of our times, where are walls, streets, and towns await life anew.
In this waiting room, Radio Karantina may perhaps be a space where a harmonious voyage outside the confines of our walls can happen.”
Stay safe, sound and tuned 📻 ✨

Ziad Halwani set up his workshop in the back of a blue van, in the middle of the Mashatel Mahfouz plant nursery in Beirut, where he is reviving the craftsmanship of knife making.
During our visit, we explored the ins and outs of this fascinating craft which has existed for thousands of years.
Ziad employs a variety of metalworking and woodworking techniques using up-cycled material. The final custom-designed products are not only functional tools but beautiful pieces of art.

BeirutMakers brings together designers to explore local fabrication and digital technology.
For their 10th edition, they exhibited for the first time in a public space, in Azarieh.
The collective met with several organisations in order to understand and identify the needs and stakes involved in the protests. They then put their knowledge of design and digital fabrication skills to good use, creating tools for demonstrators to be heard, seen and remain comfortable.
Beirutmakers it was nice to meet you! (unfortunately we didn't get to film everyone involved). Make sure to follow them and check out their inspiring work.
The collective includes: Guillaume Credoz, Karim Chaaya, Nada Zeineh, Rania Sassine, Nathalie Hadechian, Mohammad Atwi, Charbel Tannous, Noor Tabet, Alexander Ibrahim, Michael Najjar, Philippine Harb, Mounzer Hashem, Mazen Zahalan, Suzanne Mohammad.
