🇱🇦 Despite a decrease in the incidence of since 2015, Laos still faces many challenges.
💊 In this context, the project we support has increased case identification and improved treatment success rates through intensified community interventions.
It has exceeded its target in terms of the number of identified TB
cases and achieved an 89% treatment rate for these identified cases.
⚕️ These results were achieved through three main interventions:
- Awareness of tuberculosis symptoms
- Active screening and support to populations in remote areas
- Treatment support through "trios" of community health workers, families, and patients

Malaria remains a significant health challenge for communities residing near forests in Saravanh Province. Despite the dedicated efforts of community outreach supporters and village malaria workers, an increase in malaria cases was recorded in July, coinciding with the rainy season. While all reported cases received comprehensive care and treatment, this recent surge underscores the ongoing need for robust malaria prevention and control measures.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our local government partners, village health volunteers, and community outreach supporters for their unwavering dedication to combating malaria within the community. Their tireless work is crucial in mitigating the impact of this disease.

During the rainy season, people in remote areas critically need access to malaria testing, treatment, and healthcare support due to the impacts of disasters and climate change on their health. The risk of health complications increases, making it challenging for them to reach hospitals. The roles of village health volunteers, supported by malaria workers and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), are crucial in providing regular support and conducting community surveillance.

Axingnoueakao village is a very hard to reach village located in Samouy district, Salavan province, Axingnoueakao is far way from district 8 KM and its raining whole year.
CSOs regional platform together with Lao CSOs, CMPE, PAM, DAM , Health center and local authorities spending almost 4 hours walking to Axingnueakao village to visit village malaria worker and community.
