Korean child variety shows like The Return of Superman and Cool Kids have been continuously appreciated by viewers for the endearing and honest portrayal of child actors. However, recently child variety show producers have started to create more diverse child content where they obtain the opinions of children on various important Korean social issues. These Korean child variety shows like ODG, Kizzle and My Golden Kids have been

[Today’s Affairs] The Strenuous “Zero-COVID” Strategy

Most countries are lifting restrictions and steadily returning to pre-pandemic normalcy, but China is doing the opposite, with the government determined to stick to its “zero-COVID” policy. The recent outbreak in Shanghai resulted in the government putting the entire city on a brutal lockdown, during which people reported to have experienced harsh and violent treatment from the authorities. How long the country plans to hold out on this policy is unknown, but its recent handling of the outbreak and its subsequent economic costs may compel the government to switch its COVID-19 strategy.

[Behind the Scenes] Translating *Alzheimer’s: Memories*

*Alzheimer’s: Memories* is a video game created by Dartmouth College student, Gillian Yue. After visiting a Yonsei class called Creating Creative Contents, a group of students from the class took to translating Yue’s game into Korean. *The Yonsei Annals* interviewed two of the translators, Lim Sung-hee (Sr., UIC, Comp. Lit. & Culture and Intl. Studies) and Carmen Xiaan Zhao (Sr., Dept. of Korean Lang. & Lit.), to learn more about their translation process and Alzheimer’s disease awareness.

[Campus Insider] UIC CDC: Who is it Really For?

Yonsei University has several platforms that aid students in securing job and internship opportunities such as Career Yonsei and Underwood International College (UIC)’s Career Development Center (CDC). Career Yonsei is less accessible for foreign students due to its Korean website design. The UIC CDC, on the other hand, offers its services in English but continues to have considerable shortcomings for international students.

[Newsflash] Ongoing Strikes in the Songdo International Campus

The labor union that is compromised of janitors and security guards began its first round of campus-wide strikes on May 30, 2022. Building facilities are neglected and security posts have been deserted—dismantling curfew guidelines. The union remains steadfast in their demands for improved labor conditions, and announced, “We will see it to the end.”

[Travel Diary] Voyage to Ulleung-do and Dokdo

Located at the eastern endpoint of the Korean peninsula, Dokdo a volcanic island home to hundreds of flora and fauna as well as a controversial piece of land that has been the subject of intense territorial disputes between South Korea and Japan. It is not uncommon for South Korean students to have grown up learning why Dokdo rightfully belongs to South Korea. Keeping in mind that it is a “Korean's duty to visit Dokdo at least once in their lifetime,” a reporter from *The Yonsei Annals* traveled to volcanic islands Ulleung-do and Dokdo with a pad, pencil, and camera.

[Opinion] Rhee Ken’s Inconsiderate Bravery

Recently, the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported Rhee Ken—a YouTuber and a former captain of South Korean Navy SEAL—and his mini-troops to the police for violating passport law after Rhee confirmed his departure to Ukraine to serve as a foreign mercenary. While some may advocate Rhee, it is questionable if his “bravery” is actually worth a contribution considering potential diplomatic issues that can occur to the South Korean government. Where does Rhee stand and how are we to deal with Rhee’s imprudence?

Nowadays, dogs being pushed around in strollers and wearing hats and jackets is not considered strange. Rather, it is normal for pets to wear luxurious clothing, eat specific types of premium food, and receive beautification treatments, such as pet messages or grooming sessions. This trend has been attributed to animal humanization. Many regard pampering pets to be too excessive and believe that there are great consequences in treating animals as if they were humans. However, this trend has brought great benefits to our society and personal well-being and is projected to continue doing so.

Desserts in movies are mainly associated with their visual and aesthetic appeal. However, there is more to them than what first meets the eye.
