Signs and Society began in 2013 as a collaborative project between the Semiosis Research Center at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and the Department of Anthropology and Graduate Program in Global Studies at Brandeis University, funded by the National Research Foundation of Korea's "Humanities Korea (HK)" project, and published open access by the University of Chicago Press.
