The History Of Chuseok
As is the case with most harvest festivals, Chuseok’s origin can be traced back to when Korea was an agrarian society and depended on a successful harvest for its survival. It’s believed that it began with shamanistic celebrations of the harvest moon.
During those ancient practices, food was offered to deities and ancestors, so it may have originated as a form of ancient ancestor worship and evolved from that point into the holiday as it’s celebrated today.

Most Korean families will come together to make Songpyeon together. It’s also customary for Koreans to give each other gifts during this holiday. Gifts are given to family members, friends, and even work associates as a sign of appreciation and thanks.
Customary gifts that have been given on this holiday include fresh fruits, cuts of meat, or traditional Korean snacks. Many South Korean manufacturers have taken advantage of this tradition and offer gift sets specifically for the occasion.

Upon alarming incidents of random attacks against pedestrians in South Korea in recent weeks, the police held a press conference on Friday and vowed special security measures that include inspecting anyone suspected of carrying weapons.

“We declare special measures for public peace and safety until the anxiety felt among the people subsides,” National Police Commissioner General Yoon Hee-keun said in a live televised address.

He said the police will selectively inspect anyone who is suspected of carrying weapons or giving "suspicious signs" in accordance with the legal process.

Misari speedboat park (미사리 경정공원)

Misari Speedboat Park was created for use in rowing and sailing competition during the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games. The park features various other sports facilities around the lake, including a 5 kilometer-long bike course, soccer fields and footvolley courts. Other amenities include pavilions and snack bars, making this place loved by locals as a place to relax and play, picnic outdoors.
