[Infiniss Korea] NOOLI - Tanssihuuma

NOOLI is a duo folk band consisting of violinist Aino Kinnunen and Oona Sinkko on harmonium and pump organ.
Formed in 2017, the band shared a passion for folk music and released their debut album in 2019, featuring self-written songs with virtuosic melodies and rich harmonies, followed by their second album 'Tanssihuuma' in 2023.

[Infiniss Korea] Jakob Lorentzen, Holmens Kantori, Holmens Vokalensemble - Danish Choral Works

Holmens Kirke holds a special significance in Danish musical life, partly due to the church’s rich history, prominent location and excellent acoustic, but also thanks to the great figures of Danish music such as Niels W. Gade, Thomas Laub and Mogens Wøldike who all worked as organists at Holmens Kirke. Each year, the church attracts thousands of people for its services and concerts.
This CD showcases the church music composed by the current organist of Holmens Kirke, Jakob Lorentzen. These works were created for use in services, ceremonies and concerts at Holmens Kirke and Christiansborg Palace Chapel.
It is customary in Mass services at Holmens Kirke that, following the Old Testament reading, the choir perform a short “korvers” (“choral verse”) whilst the congregation remain standing to listen. A condensed selection of these “mini motets”, which number 140 in all, can be heard on this CD.

Following the success of their Odradek release Canciones para una Reina - art songs by Emilio Arrieta - soprano Sofia Esparza and pianist Rinaldo Zhok return with an album of world-premiere recordings showcasing the cancion output of 19th-century Spanish composer Francisco Asenjo Barbieri, marking the composer's 200th anniversary.

Winner of the Premio al Talento Artistico de Navarra 2022, Sofia Esparza is a soprano celebrated for her creamy lyricism, while Rinaldo Zhok has been acclaimed for his groundbreaking research into neglected Spanish repertoire. Of Canciones para una Reina, Scherzo magazine wrote: "We should build a monument to this musician in Spain for his incredible work in favour of our heritage... an interpretation full of love, care and nuance...".

[Infiniss Korea] Gudrun Walther & Andy Cutting - Conversations

Walther and Cutting take their listeners on a journey - from traditional songs and instrumental pieces from their respective homelands to new compositions and favorite pieces from all over Europe. The album was recorded in four days in June 2023 in the Artes recording studio in Esslingen, Germany, in a recording room without acoustic separation in order to give spontaneity and interaction the greatest possible space and thus bring the music to life. The result is an audible and tangible closeness and intimacy, as close to a live performance as possible. While some pieces took time to develop, others were literally recorded and used as a "first take".

Saxophonist and clarinetist Mark Weschenfelder, who is also responsible for the compositions, saxophonist and flutist Paul Berberich, flutist Vincent Bababoutilabo, trombonist Johannes Lauer, double bassist Andris Meinig, drummer Florian Lauer as well as Florian Kästner on Fender Rhodes and Jan-Einar Groh on Modular Synth lure us on their second album "Looping" into a magical labyrinth full of acoustic traps. As soon as you get involved with a statement, an idiom, a pace or an attitude of the band, you find yourself somewhere else entirely in the next moment. What in the perception of the moment looks like the supposed opposite of what you have just heard reliably forms a coherent whole in the large scale concert of contrasts.

With Turbo Charged Up, the trio Zur Schönen Aussicht brings experimental music to the centre of society. For their fifth album, they have gathered nine international, diamond, partly legendary rappers who beam their beats into a new, futuristic dimension:

German rapper KÄPTN PENG, US rap legend of the L.A. Freestyle Fellowship crew MYKA 9, bioluminescent alien rapper IXA PSYBORG from Philadelphia/Berlin, L.A. Alpha Pup artist and producer SUBTITLE, Berlin's boundary-pushing multi-instrumentalist and vocal artist KID BE KID, Le Peuple De L'Herbe rapper ODDATEEE from New York/Lyon, genre-transcending storyteller SERA KALO from Connecticut/Berlin, Birmingham's virtuoso jazz saxophonist and rapper SOWETO KINCH, and Berlin's hyperenergetic singer and rapper ZOOEY AGRO.

Individually and always in a masterful way, the rappers find their way to flow over the unconventional beats and have different messages to proclaim: about empowerment of people of colour, about police violence, about consumerism, about the inactivity of local politicians in the climate crisis, about overtaking in the fast lane, about miracles or about rap life. Sometimes poetic, sometimes with healthy anger, sometimes philosophical, sometimes straight forward in your face.

The three jazz musicians, beats and rap lovers Jo Wespel aka Beatdenker (guitar, composition, producing, mixing, mastering), Paul Berberich (saxophone) and Flo Lauer (drums) went one step further after the production and brought Myka 9 from Los Angeles to Germany for a tour together with Sera Kalo and saw what happens live when postcontemporary, improvisational beat music meets the most innovative, virtuoso rap: exchange at the highest level and something really new. Exactly, future music of the third millennium!

Imagine a fusion between one of Switzerland’s finest Jazzbands and their musical counterparts from Austria: the result would be a transalpine musical cataclysm of epic proportions. But actually, there is no need to even imagine this – the combination already exists, and they are well on their way to achieving cult status. The quartet „The Great Harry Hillman“ plus the trio „Edi Nulz“ equals the septet „The True Harry Nulz“: two bass clarinets, two guitars, two drums and an electric bass to tie it all together . Simon Gaudenz conducts the Jena Philharmonie in the second of a series of recordings of the complete Mahler Symphonies, interspersed with world-premiere recordings of pieces by Andrea Lorenzo Scartazzini that reflect each symphony and pay homage to Mahler's soundworld. This second volume features Mahler's Second and Third Symphonies, the Second preceded by Scartazzini's orchestral Torso (2018) and Epitaph for choir and orchestra (2019) for soprano and orchestra, and the Third by Spirit (2019). This is the second common Helene Blum & Harald Haugaard album after many individual album releases. We have gathered a lot of material over the last three years. Here you will find a small selection of our work. Songs, tunes and stories from Denmark and around. DEN STORE SOMMER is about the summer – both figurative and as metaphor. DEN STORE SOMMER contains a lullaby, a love song in a garden, a medival Danish ballad, a fairytale, an homage to a destigvished winemaker from Pfalz, songs and tunes about hope, faith and light, commissions and an almost forgotten lullaby written by the great Danish composer Carl Nielsen.

[Infiniss Korea] Lina - O Que Temo E O Que Desejo

Three years ago, the fado singer Lina and the producer and musician Raül Refree released a surprising and daring album with the repertoire of Amália, which was celebrated by press and public alike. Lina is now back with her powerful and inimitable voice, presenting tracks she wrote with British producer and musician Justin Adams using poems by Camões.

The second single from the album "FADO CAMÕES", which will be released in January 2024, is "O que temo e o que desejo", a duet with Asturian folklore agitator Rodrigo Cuevas, in which a suggestive Latin American rhythm meets the chords of fado. In Lina's music, familiarity and the desire for something new go hand in hand. Characteristics that could already be found on her previous albums (she released her first two albums under the name Carolina) are again characteristic of her style, such as the simple elegance, the space between voice, piano and guitar, as well as the silence that sometimes sets in, allowing pain, fairness and dignity to go hand in hand.

[Infiniss Korea] Wildes Holz - 25 Jahre auf dem Holzweg

To mark their big anniversary, the band Wildes Holz is releasing 25 songs from 25 years of band history on this double CD. One CD features woody versions of well-known rock and pop songs, while the second CD contains exclusively original compositions. These hits from the previous 13 CDs, selected by the musicians themselves, have all been remastered. They also include a previously unreleased recording and two new recordings. The elaborately and lovingly designed cover and booklet provide an insight into the band's history and background information on the individual songs. The tour of the same name once again takes the three wooden boys from dark cellar vaults to well-known stages, from the far north to the deep south. And even after more than 2000 concerts, they will continue to amaze and ultimately delight audiences everywhere. After all, they belong to the crème-de-la-crème of pop-rock-classical-jazz-recorder-wood-rock trios in Germany!

Comparing with Rasgueo´s previous albums, „11“ has a cool and slightly different sound, yet the combination of flamenco guitar and jazz trumpet remains the quintessence of Rasgueo´s sound. So what is different on this album? First of all, the introduction of the jazz guitar in combination with the flamenco guitar offers a much wider sound. Secondly, having Bandolero on board, a flamenco expert and world-famous percussionist and drummer, who brings his own ideas and concepts. Thirdly, a bigger variety of influences, ranging from flamenco (Malagueña, Colombiana), flamenco-jazz (First Step), west african music (Gute Laune) and balkan music (Eleven) to jazz ballads (Christmas Lights) and modern jazz (Secret Mind, Dilemma).

‘Ima’ sees Ritter bring Hebrew to its original nomadic context, tracing influences from her upbringing, travels and encounters. Soaring trumpet solos over Gnawa grooves, Jewish melodies backed with Senegalese sabar drums and blissful kora improvising alongside subtle Israeli jazz piano are just a few of the colours she has used to paint her musical stories in this remarkable body of work.

“This album is the closest I have got to myself in my music so far,” admits Ritter. “Digging into the roots of my soul, listening to my ancestors and following the lineage of powerful, creative and inspiring women in my life. It celebrates my collaborations and encounters with artists from many different backgrounds who have touched me and become part of my musical story. With my music, I bring people together, live and in the studio, to celebrate everyone's story, rhythm and flow in this dance that we call life.”

[Infiniss Korea] Carion Wind Quintet - Carion in C

Carion Wind Quintet, one of the most celebrated wind quintets in the world, returns to Odradek with its own take on Terry Riley's legendary In C, plus a new recording of a work for which the group has won much acclaim: Nielsen's Wind Quintet, re-recorded in 2022 to coincide with the work's centenary. 'In C' also alludes both to the name Carion and to their home of Copenhagen. The release is completed by Mozart's Divertimento No. 1, Renate Stivrina's A Cycle of Miniatures, 'A Man Without a Country', dedicated to Carion, and an arrangement of the ancient Danish song Dromte mig en drom i nat- the oldest notated Danish tune - made by the quintet's horn player, David M.A.P. Palmquist.

[Infiniss Korea] Ernán López-Nussa - From Havana to Rio

One of the names already inscribed in the Cuban jazz tradition is undoubtedly that of the pianist Ernán López-Nussa Lekszycki. Founder of the prestigious Afrocuba band, Ernán has successfully ventured into other very diverse genres.
Ernán has received numerous distinctions, especially Cubadisco awards and the Alejo Carpentier Medal in 2004 for his artistic career.
With his group he has performed in England at Ronnie Scott’s, at the Mew Morning in Paris and toured Chicago, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Rome and many other cities around the world.
Ernán López-Nussa is the author of works of melodic richness where the harmonic atmosphere, cadence, virtuosity and technique are combined in perfect harmony, to make them unforgettable.

[Infiniss Korea] Bob Neuwirth, José M. Vitier - Havana Midnight

Bob Neuwirth's long and fitful career is built around ragged but soulful folk-based recordings that are marked by an ingrained extemporaneous spirit. Neuwirth, after all, is a dyed-in-the-wool troubadour who's more interested in capturing the moment than artfully shaping his songs. Which makes Havana Midnight so unexpected and rewarding. Here the roughhewn folkie finds himself keeping company with Cuban composer/arranger Jose Maria Vitier, who gives Neuwirth's wistful, weary tunes a subtly ornate stateliness and rhythmic underpinning. The beauty of Havana Midnight is that Neuwirth's music is given a grace and elegance that, on the surface, ought to be constricting, but instead is entirely liberating.
