What’s my secret to a happy eater? There’s nothing really special about the food I prepared ( unseasoned tofu and zucchini, rice balls, mushroom soup )Trust me, raising a happy eater is not about the food. Of course every child is different but these tips 👇 work for us :1. Stop pressuring your child to eat the meal . Parents pressuring kids to eat is one of the top reasons toddlers won’t eat meals. Honor their independence with their body by letting them choose what to eat and how much to eat. 2. Have a meal and snack schedule because it makes sure your child is hungry during mealtime.3. Have a designated eating area . Our toddler Shawn eats breakfast and lunch with me in his weaning table. At dinner time, we eat together as a family in our dining table. 4. It is important not to have any distractions while the child is eating ( screens being the most common ) 5. Bonus : If your happy eater turns into a cranky eater, offer a new utensil. Works wonders 99.9 % of the time! 🤣We’ve been doing all of the above since we started baby-led weaning at 6 months. It’s now a year since we started BLW and I’m happy with how it turns out for us. Please feel free to share if there are other tips that also work for you…Of course there were times when he wasn’t a happy eater ( talking about teething ) or when refused a certain food he used to love but those times happened to be just a phase. Toddlers are the weirdest,tee-hee !🤣 Is your toddler the same? P. Children who are involved in the creation of their meals are more likely to happily eat them. This is because cooking exposes children to new food, and gives them the opportunity to engage with all of their senses especially touch, sight and taste. When children are able to get comfortable with a new food before eating it, they are more likely to have a positive perception of it, and more likely to eat it . There you have it , if you have a picky eater and struggle with feeding your littles try involving them in the preparation of their meal… Does your child like preparing their meal? Young children don't see the difference between work and play. They enjoy both ... So the next time you run out of play ideas , you know what to do 😉 Give them the opportunity to enjoy some practical life activities . Our son loves the kitchen so much so I let him prepare some food in the kitchen with me . Our toddler Shawn helped prepare this peanut butter roll ups and the peanut butter from scratch ( check the 2 previous videos ) . Look how much he enjoyed the food he prepared !!! And if you have a picky eater , involving your child in the kitchen could be the solution. Psychological studies show that kids who have been active in the kitchen and involved in cooking are generally keener to experiment and try new foods. If you are a parent looking for a way to better teach, communicate, and connect with your child , your family kitchen is the epicenter of such noble goal. Oh by the way, pls SAVE this post so you can come back on it later and don’t forget to share to other moms too. Inviting your children in the kitchen promotes academic and social learning. Children learn by touching, tasting, seeing, feeling, and listening. During cooking, all of the senses are engaged. This multisensory engagement is what makes experiences memorable. This must be why my toddler really gets excited the moment I pull out his learning tower . He knows he is up for a kitchen adventure. And what child doesn’t like a science experiment that he can eat? Also, preparing meals together means quality time as a family. Sure it does get MESSY but it’s still one of my favorite activities with Shawn .Yes, Including your kids in the kitchen requires much time , patience and more clean up but it’s all worth it! What are your thoughts on this ? ✨P.S. We also made that peanut butter in the previous video ✨ #montessoriathome #montessorimom #montessoribaby #montessoriph #montessorikorea #parentlife #momlife #babychef #toddlerchef #momsupportingmoms #momtips #parentingtipsandadvice
Why invite your children in the kitchen even at a very young age? ( We only give them the opportunity but never force them when not interested . Most children seem to like it because they consider it as play, not a chore ) Inviting your children in the kitchen has LOTS of benefits …Cooking teaches language, math, creativity, and science. It helps a child’s physical development - fine and gross motor skills. Your child builds healthy habits and you are raising an adventurous eater. It helps your child learn responsibility, planning, and organization as well as in cultivating patience. But in this video let me discuss more on the healthy aspect of it. Homemade meals are probably the best choices we can make for our bodies, especially for our babies. Looking at research, it says that people who eat home-cooked meals on a regular basis tend to be happier and healthier and consume less sugar and processed foods. This must be why our toddler seems to be very happy with noticeably less tantrum . Would you consider trying this homemade peanut butter with your toddler/child? All you need is a cup of roasted peanuts, a tablespoon of honey and a food processor or a heavy duty blender 🥰 See you in the next video to see a healthy snack we made with this homemade peanut butter. #toddlerchef #babychef #montessoriathome #montessorimom #montessorimoments #firsttimemom #parentlife #intentionalparenting
Broccoli soup, mashed potato, green salad , roasted chicken drumstick and brown rice for dinner. Currently on the ninth month of baby-led weanin and I’m very happy I overcame my initial anxiety of jumping on to BLW…things couldn’t be more convenient!Baby-led weaning offers multiple advantages for families and babies alike. But today let me tell you BLW is also beneficial for moms like me: 1. It saves time Not only are you cutting down on meal prep time because everyone in the family is eating similar things while being mindful of portions for the little one, and what is going to be safe and appropriate for them. 2. You’re also hopefully saving money. With the inflation going on, this is a big deal! Baby food can be expensive. If you’re preparing the same food for the whole family, you’re not necessarily having to buy something separate and special. 3. Mom can eat while the baby eats. I can have my soup HOT and not cold because the baby is in charge of his meal. Happy baby, happy mommy !!! There is no such thing as too attached. A secure attachment is one of the best things we can give our children. Allowing dependence now allows independence in the future. I don’t hold back from cuddling my child to sleep or comforting him when he cries because I want him to know that I am his safe space and that he can depend on me... #mominspiration #momlife #attachmentparentling #montessoriathome
The goal is not to make a mini adult. Shawn has always shown an interest in the kitchen since he was an infant and I’m here to support that. By letting our children get involved in the kitchen we are giving them chance to nurture self-esteem, confidence, and a sense of self-worth. Did you see that clap and smile on his face? Children usually experience an amazing sense of pride when they feel they’ve successfully prepared a meal for themselves or their family. Share in the comment section below how you support your children’s interest and set them up for success 🙂 #montessoritoddler #babychef #17monthsoldbaby #montessorimom #cutebabyreels
