Oleg Starynskyi lauded Visakha FC - Pride of Cambodia new coach Meas Channa for his experience and intelligence in coaching after Phnom Penh Crown FC thrashed Visakha 3-1.

“Channa is a very good and experienced coach. I could say he is a really smart coach, so it’s not easy to play against his team,” said the Phnom Penh Crown coach.

Hong Pheng pointed out that a victory in his first match in charge as a Boeung Ket Football Club coach is very vital as it can build the team confidence in him.

Boeung Ket had never won a single match in six consecutive Cambodian Premier League matches before returning to winning ways with 6-0 thrashing of គិរីវង់សុខសែនជ័យ Kirivong Sok Sen Chey F.C.

“The boys did very well, and they followed our match plan to win this important match,” Hong Peng told Footy Zone.

“We hadn’t won any single match from our last six matches, so this victory over Kirivong Sok Sen Chey is very important to build our confidence and to show that we can do it.

“As you know I’m new to the coaching career with less experience, so a win will make our boys have more faith in me.”

Phnom Penh Crown achieve impossible mission in the AFC Cup this season

Phnom Penh Crown have become the first Cambodian side to qualify for the AFC Cup zonal semifinals after finishing the group stage as the best runners-up.

Prior to their AFC Cup campaign, not many would expect the champions of Cambodia can go this far in the AFC Cup.

They thrashed Young Elephants of Laos 3-0 at home in the AFC Cup second preliminary round before making a remarkable 3-2 come-back win over home sides Tampines Rovers of Singapore after trailing 2-0 inside thirty minutes of the play to enter group stage.

Drawn in Group F of this season’s AFC Cup, Oleg Starynskyi’s side snatched maximum nine points and didn’t concede a single goal in all their three home matches, with eleven goals scored.

Their famous AFC Cup win at home was against Macarthur. They stunned the Australian side with an incredible 3-0 win.
