A Tasty Stop in Battambang

Right now, I’m at Nat Market in Battambang. At the southwest corner of the market, you can find a local seller with many tasty fish products.

She sells dry fish, spicy smoked fish, and fermented fish sausage.

Of course, I had to try some.

And yes — delicious.

If you love local food and simple market experiences, this is a nice stop to add to your Battambang trip.

Don’t Get Hungry on Your Sunrise Tour

Planning an Angkor Wat sunrise tour?

Check the website and plan your trip here:

Sunrise tours start very early, so breakfast can be tricky. Some hotels can prepare a breakfast box or an early snack around 4:30–5:00 AM, such as fruit, croissants, juice, coffee, or tea.

After sunrise and exploring Angkor Wat, it may already be 8:00–9:00 AM before you have a proper breakfast.

My simple tip: ask your hotel about breakfast the day before, or bring a small snack with you. A little preparation gives you more energy to enjoy the temples.

If you have some free time, add Leu Market to your trip. Stay a little longer, explore beyond the temples, and discover another side of Siem Reap.

When You Have the Temple to Yourself

Early morning, beautiful light, and almost no people.

Just us and two other visitors. The temple feels quiet, peaceful, and completely different without the crowds.

Sometimes, waking up early gives you the best reward—the perfect light, a peaceful moment, and a place that feels like it belongs only to you.

Here, they make a special local snack called Banana Sunrise. The bananas are dried under the sun for a few days, then eaten soft or grilled over charcoal for a crispier taste.

The flavor is sweet, a little sour, and even better with chili salt made from chili, salt, and a little MSG.

This stop is not only about tasting food. You can also meet the friendly local seller, who taught herself English and now explains the whole process to visitors.

Simple food, local stories, and warm smiles—that is what makes this experience special.

Just a few minutes north of the fresh spring roll village in Battambang, you'll find a local family making delicious banana snacks.

Here, you can learn how they make Banana Sunrise by drying fresh bananas under the sun, then grilling them over charcoal for a crispy texture. You can also see how traditional banana chips are made.

It's a simple but unique experience where you can taste fresh local snacks and learn directly from the people who make them.

If you're visiting Battambang, don't miss this hidden stop!

The Sound of Peace

Today, I brought six travelers to experience a special part of Cambodian culture: meditation with Buddhist monks.

As the monks chanted ancient mantras, the temple became calm and peaceful. Even if you do not understand every word, you can still feel the peace in your heart.

If you are feeling stressed or looking for a deeper cultural experience, I highly recommend trying this. It is more than a temple visit. It is a moment to slow down, reflect, and connect with Cambodia’s traditions.

The Peaceful Side of Battambang

There is something special about Battambang at 6:00 in the morning.

The weather is cool, the streets are quiet, and there is very little traffic. Along the river, you’ll see people walking, running, cycling, and starting their day. The city slowly comes to life in such a peaceful way.

I woke up early just to experience this beautiful morning, and it was absolutely worth it.

If you visit Battambang, don’t miss the chance to explore the city before sunrise. Sometimes, the best moments happen before the day begins.

A Quick Stop Worth Making

On the way to Kulen Mountain, we pass **Pre Rup Temple**—the largest brick temple in Cambodia.

It is the perfect place to stop for a few photos, admire the beautiful architecture, and enjoy one of Angkor's most impressive temples before continuing the journey.

**Before the Sunrise Begins**

Good morning, everyone! Today, we are starting early for sunrise at Angkor Wat.

Your tour guide or tuk-tuk driver will usually wait for you in the hotel lobby. Because the tour starts very early, remember to order a breakfast box from your hotel one day before.

Most hotels can prepare it for you by around 4:30 or 4:40 AM, depending on your departure time.

A little preparation makes your sunrise tour easier, more comfortable, and more enjoyable.
