The NCN Carbon Summit brought together diverse stakeholders, including project developers, regulators, private sector representatives, and financial institutions for a day-long series of workshops at the Brackenhurst Hotel. According to the legislation, Kenyans who go against the law, will be deemed to have committed an offence and shall upon conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding Ksh20,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or both.

The legislation is also seeking to gatekeep how Kenyans dispose waste. The law wants to ensure that Kenyans only work with licensed waste service providers and only dump trash at designated collection points.

Speaking at the launch of EABL’s sustainability report, Environment, Climate Change and Forestry Cabinet Secretary (CS) Soipan Tuya applauded EABL for its commitment to reducing water and energy consumption, increasing the use of renewable energy and minimizing waste generation.

“The partnership between the government and private sector, for sustainability, is a pivotal alliance that holds immense potential for driving transformative change and achieving a sustainable future,” said Tuya.
