Ronnie got married 13 years ago. He has three kids. Two girls and a son.
He loves his family very much and would do anything for them.
Ronnie works in a leading cargo company as the ICT manager, he has long days that start very early.
Evey evening, Ronnie walks to his car to watch local news on his phone. Whenever there's a soccer match, Ronnie bluetooth's his phone to his car speakers to watch his match.
He cannot use the expensive TV in his living room. His wife, kids and live-in sister in-law watches girl flicks on Netflix.
His 12 year old son, the eldest of his kids, spends his time in his bedroom playing games on his phone because his vote on what to watch is outnumbered.
The video game his dad had bought him for father and son moments is kept in a box on the top cabinet, because the 'wires are messing the living room'
Ronnie will walk back into the house after his game, and head straight to the bedroom to freshen up and sleep for an early day tomorrow .
Ronnie arrives at home on Saturday afternoon after working half day and finds the living room full of his wife's chama members sipping tea and discussing Edgar Obare's other tea.
Ronnie cannot invite his own friends over because he has to make advance notice to his wife.
Ronnie will walk the neighborhood until 6pm and when tired, returns to watch some ESPN on his phone because the bedroom TV has been taken over by his adorable 5 year old daughter. She's watching cartoons.
Ronnie receives the mortgage letter, it's due and the residents association fees reminder. The neighbor told him of recent burglaries and he is still fighting with the water company for unwarranted disconnections. He is doing everything possible to ensure his family is comfortable.
The home, as we know it today, is no place for a man to thrive.
Men, normalize having a man cave in your home. Make the house fit you and your sons as well. Ensure you have space to think, to read, to entertain yourself, to leave wires running wild and to slump on the couch snoring and drooling after a long day, without being judged for it.
Men, redesign your lives, redesign your happiness... So that you give out what you have in you.
