"Russia does not believe in Africa." - President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claims
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy: "Russia's investment in Africa totals to less than 1%. Look at the agriculture and food that people are talking now. We provide for Africa what we can, but they have blocked our ports with force and weapons.
"I called him [Putin], many times. And they would always find excuses not to give this dialogue a chance." - Zelenskyy
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says his attempts to have a dialogue in ending the war have been frustrated by his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
"There is an ultimatum from them to us. An ultimatum that says 'If you don’t do what we want we’ll keep killing you'. They don’t say it in the media. In the media, they say to their own nation, to other nations including African ones. They say 'We are ready for dialogue'. It’s a lie! What kind of a dialogue is that?" Zelenskyy added.
"How many wars does the president of the Russian Federation need? Maybe, that’s enough? - Zelenskyy
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says it’s impossible to forget the lives that have been lost or revert back the loss. He added that they won’t allow anyone to forget it.
"How many wars does the president of the Russian Federation need? Maybe, that’s enough? He is of older age now. Isn’t it time to think about what he would say to God?" President Zelenskyy added.
"I believe African countries’ potential is underestimated. I know this, and I want this to change." - Zelenskyy
"I want Ukraine to invest in African nations and vice-versa for us to have stronger economic ties," Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged African nations as they address Russia's aggression.
"I know this very well, because our land and our people have been underestimated, too. And now that our sea ports have been blockaded the world has seen how much Ukraine had been doing and how much more it can do. We can be a guarantor in many fields. I believe African countries’ potential is underestimated. I know this, and I want this to change," Zelenskyy added.
"Condemn Russia’s aggression. You can’t remain neutral." - Zelenskyy
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged countries in the world to condemn Russia’s aggression.
"You can’t remain neutral. Whenever you're neutral to the war from a large country you turn into a small country, nobody can see you. So when you have challenges and problems, you have to keep in mind that the whole world can be neutral to those challenges. And I believe it’s not about business. It’s about people’s lives," he said.
Hunger is not neutral, Zelenskyy says in his exclusive interview
Hunger is not neutral, and this is why Africa can't afford to take a neutral position in the Russian war, Zelenskyy said in his exclusive interview with African media.
The President of Ukraine maintained that hunger comes to a country, no matter what stance the state had taken before the war.
Zelenskyy also promised that Ukraine will supply all countries, including those in Africa, with grain and wheat.
Gibson Gathu Mbugua joins TUKO to support Ruth Wanjiku
We thank Gibson Gathu Mbugua for supporting Ruth Wanjiku. TUKO Family, we can save her together!
Ruth Wanjiku was only 16 when she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. She had lost her leg and right lung to the effects of the disease. Today she works as a taxi driver and drives cancer patients in her Uber for chemotherapy sessions at her own cost.
A recent scan during a check-up showed Ruth has a cancerous tumour on her only lung, which the doctors suggested she undergoes 30 radiotherapy sessions to shrink.
The air has to be removed first through surgery before they can continue with radiotherapy, and this will cost her KSh 600, 000 which she is now appealing to well-wishers to help her raise.
Besides that, she also needs KSh 90,000 for the 30 radiotherapy sessions and KSh 108,000 monthly for the pazopanib medication.
