Day 1, with partners including , hosted a Women in Security pre- Conference 2023 at the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) in Karen. The pre-conference was themed “Leveraging Women’s role in an era of risks.”
The Focus was on; emerging peace & security needs, place of women & communities in security interventions, media as an ally in women, peace and security and building bridges for trust Amani Mtaani.

Day 2 saw participants engage in a day of football and celebrations at the Humanitarian and Peace Support School-HPPS in Embakasi

is proud to promote gender equity and equality in communities through sports. The "Amani Mtaani" community sporting event is a great example of our efforts to build synergies and create positive change.

Amani Mtaani participants were drawn from Lamu, Garissa and Nairobi.

Lamu County hosts Boni Forest, Mpeketoni and other areas that have been hit hard by terrorists.
Being a border county too, its residents have remained vulnerable both to attacks and recruitment to violent extremist groups.
Amani mtaani engaged the community and security actors in a forum and sporting activities to spread awareness and messages of peace, tolerance and inclusivity.
Women participated in all the activities and their contribution was valuable. Together with Women In International Security, WIIS, the heavy Lamu doors have been opened towards women participating actively in Security and Sporting activities.

Garissa University is not only an institution that fell victim to terrorism, its a place that rose from the ashes of 147 being killed to be a space of resillience against violent extremism. Amani Mtaani, through Women in international security - HOA, was at the University where students, community members, security and law enforcement actors from across board came together for a day of sports and talk. All also to support women amplify their role in security issues.

Amani Mtaani partnered by Women In International Security - HoA is about promoting Peace and non-violence through associations and co-existence between Security/Law enforcement/Military and civilians by utilizing the power of Women from the community all the way up to policy enactments.
Football is a tool of engagement in bringing everyone together for fun, team building and passing resilience messages.

This is despicable and we condemn it to the highest measure. These berserkers, savages and beasts should all be rounded up and face the full force of the law. It was an accident which would have been sorted out amicably whoever was at fault. These Nduthists decided to think and behave like Hyenas and went on to inflict physical and emotional pain on a young girl.
