This wildlife park is such a beautiful property and we had so much fun! You drive in and through to see the larger animals. Go slow and really take it all in! There are elk, deer, donkeys, emu, and more!
Once you drive through, there’s a spot to park so you can get out and walk around the smaller animal habitats. Each habitat has information about the animal there and Owen loved reading the signs! G loved feeding the goats (bring cash, $1 gets a cone of animal feed) and seeing the peacocks roam around.
You can bring a picnic lunch to enjoy there or even snacks, highly recommend! It’s such a pretty area. They also have the Wild Oak Outpost with souvenirs and concessions! This was closed when we went as some staff went back to school. I mean I wasn’t too upset because we didn’t really need another stuffie! 😜
SOR opened recently and was built in 9 months! They are going to continue to build and add even more wildlife. Check out their page for more info on events, like trick or treating and also renting the big barn for events and weddings! They even offer field trips and you can host birthday parties at the ranch!
The website has more info on all of this and hours. They close November-March for the season so make sure to visit this fall!! 🙌🏻

🔨 Build a mud kitchen with us!!! Someone posted two free pallets on FB so we grabbed those. My husband is an electrician and got the sink free on a job site. And then we went to @homedepot to buy some wood for our deck and found the rock. My brother said the rocks don’t just add asthetic, they help drain the water so the yard isn’t a mess! 🤪 We used extra wood from building the deck stairs for little shelves!! We also grabbed some screw-in hooks so the kids could hang things. We spent $20 to build this (rocks, hooks, wood screws, and @thegorillagluecompany wood glue)!
And then we went to @alpha_family_resale to get all the dishes for the kitchen!!
🔨 How to- Cut one pallet in half on the horizontal stud. Use wood glue and wood screws to attach the two halves at a 90° angle. Then attach that to the full pallet. We pulled off some boards in the middle to fit the sink (you could use a metal bowl too)! Built two shelves from extra wood and then added some hooks for the kids to hang things! Add rocks at the base for water to drain and run off so your grass and yard aren’t a mess! -Advice from my brother and anytime I say we, it was all him! 🤪

📍 Indiana Dunes National Park, 2/63 on our quest to see all the parks!
🌾 We stopped at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center first. This is where you can get your National Park Passport stamped. You can also print a Jr Ranger Activity Guide before and be sworn in when you visit or grab a guide book there and go back to get your badge! They have a little shop too with magnets, puzzles, shirts, @dunetrailhoney, and more! There’s also the 3 Dune Challenge and once you complete it, they have stickers you can pick from!
We then drove the 2 miles to the entrance of the park and went to the nature center! It’s a fun little building with all things nature and a bathroom! 🙌🏻 We did the #3dunechallenge and it depends on who you ask but it was pretty awesome!! And challenging! 1.5 miles and 552 vertical feet as you climb 3 dunes all in sand!
🏖️ We then stopped at the beach to cool off! There was a riptide warning so no swimming but still pure joy jumping in the water and seeing the Chicago skyline!
And a stop back at the visitors center on the way home to grab those stickers we earned! 💪🏻

🧦 Everyone must wear socks, adults included! They ask everyone to take their shoes off before entering the playground (even if you aren’t playing)!

📍 Come with us to Washington Park Zoo in Michigan City! This zoo is small but they still have so many animals. The kids love feeding the birds and goats (bring cash for this)! Fun for the whole family! 🥪 Bring a picnic lunch or grab a snack from the Peacock Cafe. They have hot dogs, nachos, slushies, and snack food/drinks! 💦 Check out the 70 ft observation tower and the view at the top! You can see Lake Michigan and the beach. And our favorite part is walking over to the beach after the zoo! They also have a splash pad (right outside the zoo) during the summer season.

✨Colored Rice
2 cups of rice
1 tsp vinegar
food coloring
gallon bag or mason jar
parchment paper/mat/cookie sheet
Pour rice into bag or mason jar and add vinegar and food coloring. Shake and make sure all rice is covered. Spread on parchment paper/mat/cookie sheet and let dry!

Cut rolls into fourths. Air Fry at 350° for 3 minutes, flip and fry another 3 minutes. Mix cinnamon and sugar. Use cinnamon sugar mix and icing to dip!
