PRESIDENT MUSEVENI'S CONFESSIONS THAT SHOCKED MANY.
President Uhuru Kenyatta’s love for sports can
be seen by how he closely engages Kenya’s
sports personalities and teams.
He had barely spent a year in office when he
sponsored Kenya’s national football team to
watch the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 and
intervened to have Gor Mahia’s air tickets to
the recently concluded CECAFA Kagame Cup
paid.
Unfortunately, the same can not be said about
his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni
whose men’s national football team is said to
be the best in East Africa.
President Museveni, who has been in power
since 1986, shocked many Ugandans on
Sunday, August 2, 2015, when he confessed
that he did not know much about the national
team.
“I did not know that Uganda Cranes was
the national team. I thought it was a club
but they explained to me that other football
clubs feed the Uganda Cranes with players
and it is the national team,” Museveni as
quoted by Daily Monitor .
For nearly 30 years as the president of
Uganda, Yoweri Museveni could not tell the
difference between The Cranes and Vipers SC,
URA SC, Express FC or KCC FC.
President Museveni explained to his
countrymen that his love for sports took a
back seat due the country’s internal conflicts.
He said that he stopped playing football in
1966 to concentrate on the ‘wars’ in Uganda
but has now started getting back to sports due
to the stability.
The president, or maybe his aides, has been in
touch with national football team which was
founded 1924 and has even funded some of its
matches.
And museveni tweeted this once
"Congratulations to the Uganda Cranes &
Uganda Rugby Cranes for the wins in
CHAN qualifiers & Elgon Cup
respectively. You made us proud."

A question from the Tweet above, who was
President Yoweri Museveni congratulating? Or
was the post done by someone else?
