Ali Lamu bags are not just bags, from old sails that traveled the East African Coast in all weathers. One bag is a results of several men and women from those collecting the sails from Lamu in Kenya to the coast of Tanzania. Before they are sent to the tailors in Nairobi,the old sails are cleaned and treated. At Ali Lamu workshop there are painters and those undo and redo old ropes into right sizes for the handle of bags. Tinsmith who makes aluminium labels and porters carrying material and finished products sum up to 5 persons working to a finished Lamu bag. They are durable and Reason and Able priced.
