Uasin Gishu Woman Representative and National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss now wants Naiberi Police station OCPD Mwatete and OCS Mwamburi sacked with immediately.

Speaking at Naiberi Center after disbursing the NHIF cheque for over 300 households, Boss blamed the police for the increased insecurity in the region.

She also warned the area chief for allowing illegal alcohol to be sold in the region saying he will also be sacked.

This comes after Naiberi residents on Friday brought business to a standstill as they took to the streets to demonstrate increased cases of robbery attacks in the area.

Hundreds of residents among them traders at the busy Naiberi trading
centre along the Eldoret-Eldama Ravine highway in Uasin Gishu County
brought business to a standstill as they took to the streets to
demonstrate increased cases of robbery attacks in the area.

Led by their spokesman Collins Kosgey, and Patricia Save the residents
who were holding twigs and placards implored upon the Cabinet
Secretary for Interior Kindiki Kithure to move with speed ensuring
the transfer of the officers who he claimed had overstayed in the
station, some for more than two decades.

According to the duo, armed robbers were taking advantage of laxity on
the part of the security personnel to carry out the frequent robbery
attacks during the day and night as they target businesses run by
prominent businessmen and women and M-Pesa shops.

The enraged residents and traders castigated the police for
frustrating their efforts to tame the rising cases of insecurity
releasing under unclear circumstances suspects linked to robbery,
illegal sale of alcohol and drugs.
They lamented that just three days ago four armed gangs raided a shop
of a prominent businessman in the area and went away with sh 2 million
after threatening to shoot him dead had he refused
