THE LEGEND OF JEREMIAH KIGEN MOSOP ARAAP CHEMIRMIR

Araap Chemirmir was born at around 1890 in the ancient Katkok Kaben,Tumeiyo location,Elgeyo Marakwet County...He was probably the only person to see 3 generations of age sets ..He was initiated in the age set of Maina (Mainek)
He was the third born child of Mantulwa Limo Kimosop and Soi Limo.. Records have it that he was born prematurely as his mother had fallen sick before term..The midwives tending to him believed that he wasn't going to survive and since burial rites weren't performed then,he was thrown into the brushes..

His aunt,the wife of Kapkalya however rescued him but since her mother wasn't feeling well,Toiyo nursed him until his mother got better...He was named Kipkios (born prematurely) and later his name was changed to Kigen because of his studded growth..He never suckled.!

This legends story is part true, part mythology. Nobody really knows what caused his most wanted status during the colonial period. The most famous and interesting of narratives goes thus:

Arap Chemirmir was the man behind the story of 'Ndilik ab Arap Mbugu’. Mbugu, was a local nickname for a white settler who owned a large farm at Miti Moja near Sogomo market, in the outskirts of Eldoret town.

The folklore goes, Chemirmir while shelling Maize around Chepkoilel area, was confronted by a mzungu ngetet, the son of Mbugu, who beat him up.

Chemirmir got so irritated and said

" Koipiiro Ngeteet ane Muren nekiowe tuum Po Keny?", (How can a whole man like me be harrased by a ngetai?).

He clicked several times, made a war cry, and in return grabbed the mzungu Ngetet and dropped him, head first into the shelling machine (Shellait), killing him on the spot.

He then fled leading to this wild west poster we see today.

He passed on in 2022 at the age of 128.

Maandamano kicked off. Peaceful. Impactful. Many young people participated voicing their concerns about multiple issues. Finland. Fake fertilizer. etc. Businesses ran as usual.

They were peaceful till the very last hours when unruly folks infiltrated and started stoning cars parked at the County HQ.

Calm was quickly restored and people went home having made their voices heard.

𝑻𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌: ⏳

The mood was different. From the onset, you could see that the protests were infiltrated.

At the end of the day, unspeakable damage had ensued:

❌The National Library torched. 🔥

❌ 7 cars in the vicinity burnt and many others stoned in the street. 🔥

❌ A hardware opposite the North Rift stage was looted. 🛒

❌ Two clubs, Baniyas and Timba XO looted and damaged. 💃🏾

❌ County HQ breached and damage occasioned. 🏫

❌ Samsung shop was broken into using tools stolen from the hardware and looted (Pana music). Phones, TVs, Laptops, and Phone repair machines were stolen. 📲

❌ Gemenia insurance was looted and the building burnt. 🏨

❌ The big screen at the County HQ was vandalized beyond repair. 📺

❌ The young guys selling shoes and clothes in the CBD looted. 👞

❌ All city clocks damaged in the town. 🕰️

❌ Municipal court damaged. 🏦

❌ An attempt was made at the Central Police station as well. 👮🏾‍♂️

❌ Many more businesses looted. 🏭

GORY SCENES all over a peaceful town. 😡

Wazee and youth assemble in the CBD to air their dissatisfaction. Swore to not allow any more destruction of property.

Videos show these folks patrolling the CBD ostensibly to maintain the peace. Ideal? Not really. Effective? Definitely. No property was damaged and business went on well.

Vice Chief of Defence Forces (VCDF) Lt Gen Charles Muriu Kahariri has been promoted to the rank of general and named the Chief Defence Forces.

He now replaces his boss Gen Francis Ogolla who died in a chopper crash.

Kenya Airforce commander Maj Gen John Omenda was promoted and named the VCDF.

Maj Gen Fatuma Ahmed was named the commander Kenya Airforce to succeed Maj Gen Omenda. She had been at the National Defence College where she was a senior Directing Staff Air.

This follows a meeting of the Defense Council under chairmanship of defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale.

UPDATE: The late Kenya Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Gen Francis Omondi Ogolla has left behind a distinguished legacy of service to his country.

Gen Ogolla was was Kenya's highest-ranking military officer until his passing and served as the principal military adviser to the President and Cabinet.

He was appointed as the Commander of the Kenya Air Force on July 15, 2018 and served in that role for three years.

In July 2021, he was appointed as the Vice Chief of the Defence Forces (VCDF).

Later, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed as the Chief of Defence Forces on April 28, 2023.

General Ogolla's military career began when he joined the Kenya Air Force on April 24, 1984 and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on May 6, 1985.

Over the years, he rose through the ranks, earning various promotions and taking on increasingly challenging assignments.

He trained as a fighter pilot and an instructor pilot with the United States Air Force and also received training in other areas, such as imagery intelligence, counter-terrorism and accident investigation.

In terms of education, General Ogolla had a diverse academic background.

He held a Diploma in International Studies and Military Science from Egerton University, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Armed Conflict, and Peace Studies (First Class Honours) and a Master of Arts degree in International Studies from the University of Nairobi.

He also attended the École Militaire de Paris and the National Defence College of Kenya.

General Ogolla held various appointments in training, command, and staff, including Deputy Commander Kenya Air Force, Base Commander of Laikipia Air Base, Commanding Officer of Tactical Fighter Wing, Chief Flying Instructor at Kenya Air Force Flying Training School, and Operations Desk Officer at Kenya Air Force Headquarters.

He was instrumental in developing and implementing various training programs and operational strategies that enhanced the effective

FLEW AWAY: IN PURSUIT OF BECOMING OVERNIGHT MILLIONAIRES.

Gambling is spreading through Kenya like wildfire, and it seems no one is safe - not even the young folks saving up for rent or your friendly neighborhood mama mboga waiting for customers.

Despite the temptations of making easy money, the consequences of gambling can be severe. Aviator, a game promising fast payouts, has been linked to mental health issues, particularly among students who lose substantial amounts meant for necessities like rent.

Surprisingly, even the elderly are not immune to the lure of gambling, with market vendors, like 'mama mbogas,' bodaboda operators cannot resist a spin with the hope of becoming overnight millionaires.

While a few may experience short-term financial gains, the quest to multiply these earnings often leads to significant losses.

The allure of easy money is strong, especially with games like Aviator promising riches with the click of a button. But here's the thing about get-rich-quick schemes: they usually involve getting poor even quicker.

Places of worship aren't even safe! Folks are playing Aviator in between prayers, hoping for a divine windfall.

Pastors are sweating over Aviator, hoping for a quick payday to fix the leaky roof (maybe they should hold a fundraiser instead).

The story of a young man winning shs 800,000 but squandering it due to an insatiable desire for greater riches serves as a cautionary example of the dangers of unchecked gambling behavior.

This repeated pattern underscores the cycle of gambling addiction and its negative impact on individuals and their families.

Given these serious implications, policymakers must take action to address the widespread presence of gambling and implement safeguards to protect vulnerable groups from its harmful consequences.
