NYAMUNYAMU KEEPS FOCUS AS QUEENS EYE FOURTH TITLE
Vihiga Queens head coach Boniface Nyamunyamu is determined to add another success to the club's achievements by winning their fourth Kenya Women Premier League unbeaten.
After unceremonious departure of Alex Alumirah, the most successful coach of the Vihiga county based club, Nyamunyamu took over the mantle and says his desire is to steer the club to making history again by winning the league unbeaten.
Nyamunyamu has built on the strong foundation left by his predecessor coach Alumirah to maintain the sterling performance of the club in the league.
Queens, popularly known as Legacy Makers, are on course for their fourth title after opening an 11- point lead.
They have managed to bag 44 points, drawing only two matches. Their closest rivals and KWPL defending champions Ulinzi Starlets have 33 points.
The departure of goal hunters Jentrix Shikangwa and Terry Engesha who are plying their trade overseas gave striker Topista Situma a chance to shine and she is the top scorer with 12 goals.
"It is not yet time to celebrate. The task ahead of us is huge. If my players continue with the hard work and determination we can win the league unbeaten. That is my dream and that of all players," said coach Nyamunyamu.
He added:"We still have to face tough clubs like Gaspo Women, onform Zetech Sparks, Thika Queens, Wadadia, Kangemi Ladies and Bunyore Starlets in our remaining fixtures".
Queens needs to collect seven points out of the possible 18 to bag their fourth title and coach Nyamunyamu says " inawezekana".
Queens on Sunday signalled their intentions of winning the league as they went on rampage by thrashing relegation bound Kayole Starlets 7-0 with Situma netting four goals at Mumias Sports Complex.
