Sheikhow Lays Foundation Stone for DO's Construction and Chief's Renovation in Ruqa Division Ijara legislator Hon. Abdi Ali marked a significant milestone as he laid the foundation stone for the construction of District Officer's (DO) offices and the renovation of the Chief's office in Ruqa division. The ceremony, attended by local leaders, community members and stakeholders symbolizes the commitment of Hon. Sheikhow to enhancing infrastructure and administrative facilities in the region. Speaking at the event Hon. Sheikhow emphasized the importance of modern and functional administrative structures in fostering development, improving governance and serving the needs of the community effectively. "The construction of the DO's offices and renovation of the Chief's offices in Ruqa division are essential steps towards empowering our community and ensuring efficient service delivery," said Hon. Ijara Member of Parliament Hon. Abdi Ali Abdi has pledged to address the teachers shortage plaguing his constituency which have adversely affected the performance of students. Speaking on Friday at Garissa Teachers Training College where he paid a visit to students from his constituency undertaking education program at the institution, the MP decried about the biting shortage of teachers facing his constituency and the entire region, calling for concerted efforts to address it once and for all. During the meeting with the students, the MP revealed that the constituency’s Constituency Development Fund (CDF) will allocate up to Sh7.2 million annually to sponsor students willing to partake education at various institutions across the country. Mr. Abdi said that he will sponsor 100 students annually to bridge the widening gape between students and teachers at his constituency. He implored and encouraged the students to work hard to ensure his initiatives does not go down the drain. The lawmaker emphasized the significance of adopting sustainable mechanisms and solutions to address the perennial teachers shortage and to ensure that the region has the capacity to cure the shortage of tutors across the Northern region.

Ijara MP Hon. Abdi Ali Abdi has demanded the immediate release of three people in his constituency allegedly abducted and detained by security agencies. Speaking in Masalani Primary School in his Ijara constituency, the lawmaker at the same time acknowledged what he termed as unwavering support in the fight against terror. Sheikhow said he would support security agencies involved in protecting the area against Al-Shabaab militants. He said security agencies cannot illegally abduct and detain suspects, noting that this undermines the fight against terror in the area. “Today as we speak three people from this area are nowhere to be found, they are being held by security agencies without being taken through the normal judicial process, this is very unfortunate and we demand their immediate release,” said the MP.

Abdi Ali, has emphasized the urgent need to equip National Police Reserves (NPRs)/ Macawisley in order to enhance the development of critical infrastructure such as roads, electricity, and a reliable network in the Ijara constituency. Speaking at the floor of the House, Hon. Abdi highlighted the significant role NPRs/macawisley could play in driving the progress and prosperity of Ijara. Ijara MP appeal for roads Ijara law maker Abdi Ali Abdi has urged the government to mend roads in his constituency. The MP said dilapidated road network has characterized the region for many decades making life difficult for residents especially during the rainy season. "The road connecting Masalani to the boarder town of Hulugho through Ijara and Sangailu is a major Kenya National Highways Authority road. I appeal to the president through the relevant ministry to help the people of Ijara by Constructing this crucial road". Said Hon. Abdi. Shekhow says if constructed and maintained, the road will connect this part of the country to the neighboring Somalia. This, he says, will promote cross boarder trade. -----Ends------

Security is key to development, MP tells youth. "I am here to confirm to those doubting the safety of this town that Hulugho is safe and ready for development" this was Ijara legislator Abdi Ali Abdi's speech when he addressed a group of youth during a football match in the boarder town of Hulugho. Shekhow underscored the important role sports plays in enhancing security. "Sports helps our youth to be meaningfully occupied so that they don't get radicalized. It's also a means of developing a good working relationship between the security personnel and the local community. The KDF has stayed true to its civic duty by helping my people especially in the areas of Health and Education and I want to sincerely thank them for that". Ali said. Sheikhow urged the local community to collaborate with the area security machinery including the KDF to quell criminal elements causing fear in the region. The MP was speaking during a three days working visit in the sub county. The address was followed by a closed meeting with the sub county security team headed by the Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Joel Nyaga.

DELIVERING THE SHEIKHOW EDUCATION AGENDA. The journey to transform education in Ijara has began in earnest. The education task force on improvement of educational standards has this morning made its maiden public hearing session in Garissa. The Almond Hotel event brought together education stakeholders in the constituency lead by Education County Director Dr. Korio Hussein, All elected and nominated Members of the county Assembly, TSC directors, teacher unions, community elders and religious leaders. The Dr. Ismail Buro led task force briefed the stakeholders about their terms of reference as they plan to conduct public hearings in the constituency. Among the issues discussed include parental involvement in education of their children, schools' resource status, enrollment trends and performance in national examinations.
