...What is the underlying issue? Is it because of failed marriages, poor parenthood, alcoholism, lust or peer/media influence? This gives birth to the question, are parent's aware that their daughters are le****ns and if yes have they tried to counsel them? Has it worked? If not, have they tried to find an external counsellor to guide and counsel them?

Some daughters find it hard to open up to their parents about their sexuality because of fear of being judged, looked down upon by their own folks. There is always that fear that how will my mom/dad think of me when I confess that I am a le***an? Will she be mad at me? Some have the courage to tell their parents and are advised accordingly and later turn to be with the right sexual orientation. We have to accept the fact that African parent's will always confront their le***an daughters because le***anism is against the African culture.

Conversion therapy is where parents try to change the sexuality of their daughters who are le****ns to be straight and at the end of it some rebel and end up committing su***de, getting stressed and depressed. In Germany, parents who try to force their kids through conversion therapy are subject to one year or less in prison or a fine of 30,000 Euros that means girls who are le****ns will struggle less and this is one amazing step for human rights. Brazil was the first country to ban Conversion therapy in 1999 then later Taiwan in 2016.My hope is that all countries will ban this conversion therapy.

We can conclude that, beyond a person’s choice towards sexual orientation, there is an underlying issue that triggers this thought and perspective. Have we taken the time to dig deeper to understand where they are coming from, before we rule them out without any second thought. What if it's your brother/sister?T has been revealed quite a number of times that majority of LGBTQ individuals have internal struggles and their sexual orientation choice is just an outlet. It will be prudent, not to shut them down, but take the risk to understand them deeply and provide assistance as required.
