TWO PEOPLE are feared dead in an accident which occured along Sessia and Patkawanin road this evening after a lorry which they were using to ferry scrap metals lost control and plunged head on into a ditch.

The two who were heading to Nakuru are reported to have perished on the spot and their bodies have been taken to Baringo Referral Hospital morgue as police try to ascertain the cause of the fatal accident.

BARINGO NORTH: Residents of Kitibei village in Saimo Kipsaraman ward Baringo North are living in fear after unknown people put poison inside the water pipe which was their main supply of water.

The residents say that on Sunday they were repairing a vandalised pipe which they wanted to connect to the main water tank so that they can continue accessing water within their homesteads and that was when they discovered that the water had been contaminated.

According to Isaac Cheraste, a resident and Water Chairperson Kitibei village, they found out that the water is poisoned due to its pungent smell and the milky appearance of the water.

"A few weeks ago, these water pipes were vandalised by unknown people and on Sunday we were trying to repair them but we decided to let water run through the pipes first as a way of cleaning them before reconnecting" he said.

He added that, that was when they saw that the color of the water had changed and when they poured it into a basin it started foaming.

"We suspected that there was something fishy and decided to find out by putting some live insects into the water, surprisingly, the insects died within some few seconds" said Jennifer Chepkangor.

She expressed her fears that if they had consumed the poisoned water several people could have lost their lives.

The residents are now calling upon the government through the responsible agencies to commence an investigation into the matter so that they can apprehend all those who are responsible of the act.
