The villagers from Mahira in Ambira sub-location are now crying of wildlife invasion due to the floods of River Nzoia after it's diversion that was done by Chinese engineers during the construction of the Ambira lower irrigation scheme.
Speaking to Radio Tembea this morning at the scene, Mrs Christine Otieno, Mahira village elder said that at present they're living in fear with some of their farming activities paralysed due to increased number of python snakes, leopards and different kinds of mongoose that are giving them sleepless nights even in the homesteads.
As a solution, they are now calling on the government to help them have the bushes around them cleared and the floods controlled given that they own no right on that land after it was taken by the government.
In addition, they complained of poor road access which are equally very narrow and suitable for neither vehicle nor motorcycle movement.
They are calling for immediate action by the government to save them or else uncontrollable mass action may be led to the concerned offices of the county government of Siaya.
