DCP candidate Masikonde calls for disqualification of political rivals in Narok Town by-election
Douglas Masikonde, the Democratic Choice Party (DCP) candidate for the upcoming Narok Town ward by-election, has urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to disqualify Kanyinke Kudate from contesting the November 27th by-election.
Masikonde claims that UDA candidate,Kudate’s campaign materials prominently feature the National Government Coat of Arms and the Narok County Government logo, which he says is evidence that state resources are being illegally used to support the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate.
He described the act as a direct violation of the Constitution, citing Chapter Six, which requires public officers to uphold integrity, fairness, and impartiality in political processes.
“The use of government symbols in campaign materials is a serious abuse of office and an attempt to mislead the electorate,” Masikonde said.
“It undermines the democratic process and creates an unfair advantage for the candidate who is receiving state backing.”
In a separate appeal, Masikonde also called for Governor Patrick Keturet Ole Ntutu to be barred from participating in the 2027 general elections.
He cited the governor’s earlier statement that his candidate “only needs two votes” to win and pledged to present photographic and video evidence of Governor Ntutu publicly “chest-thumping” in support of Mr. Kudate.
Masikonde said his legal team would file the necessary petitions in court, asking the judiciary to compel IEBC to take immediate action against both individuals to protect the integrity of the upcoming by-election and future elections.
The DCP candidate, campaigning under the banner of Actionable Leadership, appealed to the electorate to remain vigilant and demand transparent and accountable leadership.
He warned that failure to address such violations could erode public trust in the electoral system and set a dangerous precedent for future contests.
The Narok Town by-election is scheduled for 27th November 2025, with political tensions rising as candidates intensify their campaigns. The situation has attracted attention from county leaders, civil society groups, and voters eager to ensure a free, fair, and credible election.
