The cost of corruption.
Let me jog your memory abit.
The jubilee government in it's flagship project during its first term had a laptop for all learners in grade one project. The project was estimated to cost around 75 billion Kenyan shillings!
And yes, as per the image below the projects kicked off. But the question is, how many know learners in public primary schools that got this laptops?
Here is the thing, the guys in the education sector knew that for CBC to be successfully rolled out, each learner in Kenya from grade 1 upwards required a tablet, which necessitated the launch of this programme.
It was rolled out, only to abort halfway. The long-term effect of this this is that the vast majority of Kenyan learners will be left behind as the globe is advancing and moving from real office jobs to flexible remote jobs, the lot that is taught digital literacy in theory because someone somewhere pocketed the billions meant for this project will have a tough time playing catch up.
We would want to justify the handouts and the favours received from the politicians as your time to eat or lack has befallen you, but the effects are long term.
This is just but one of the flopped projects. If we look at the current regime, the loans they are borrowing, the proof of the money on the ground, there is nothing to show. Yet, we want to find a way to justify and make peace with the donations and handouts. If you don't see that money as what it is, proceeds of corruption, diverted resources meant to benefit the children on this nation then you have a problem.
It's not our politicians that are the issue, Kenyans are the issue. We are enablers of corruption. And for as long as it's benefiting you, it's not that evil........
Anyway, eat, enjoy, and let no hint of guilt hit you since it's it's your time.
Ebu amkeni!
