FIRST VISIT TO YOUR MOTHER-IN-LAW TO BE

I will not advise you to go with a gift on your first visit as some mothers see it as bribery or a sign of desperation. We know you are a giver and very generous, but wisdom should be applied when giving. You may give on the second or third visit. Ask your fiance what she likes. Some mothers will appreciate anything you give while some are very selective. You won't be happy if your precious gift is not appreciated after spending your hard earned money on it.

Guys can give on a first visit. It creates the impression they have the capacity to take care of their daughter. That's the way some families think, not all.

Don't forget to dress well when visiting please. Close your laps and stop spreading your pant before your father, mother, brothers and sisters-in-law.

Only talk when necessary. Answer questions diplomatically. Don't run off the mill with your answers. Yes, you are an extrovert, loving and charming, this is your first visit, all eyes are on you. Behave yourself. Act maturely.

Ladies, take your plates to the kitchen after you have been served please. Don't wait for his mother to do that. Don't allow your fiance do that in the presence of his mother. Yes, he loves you and should show it but common sense should be applied when visiting your in-laws to be the first time.

HOW TO STAY POOR

1. PRIORITIZE SLEEPING
Never wake up early. Stay in bed as long as possible, stretching and turning until hunger forces you to get up. If there are no bed bugs, why hurry?

Hate is a terrible thing.

Every time I listen to Rigathi Gachagua, I see a man full of hate.

I once asked two or three of my sensible friends on why can't Central Kenya leaders be two things at the same time? Like love Kenya and love their region?

Raila Odinga is a Luo. We know his base is Kisumu and Kibera/Mathare. But he has garnered national appeal and only in Central and pockets of the Rift Valley some people may have some beef with him.

William Ruto rose a Kalenjin kingpin, but long before we elected him, he had some veneer of national appeal. Around 2019, I went to my village and I met a bunch of people who were pro-Ruto. In fact my MP is the UDA treasurer. On top of Kalenjins Ruto was able to unite "hustlers" behind him. Any rigging claim aside, he almost became a national leader. Only recently, by appointing more Kalenjin PSes did we go back to remember that he is Kalenjin. The tactless ostentatious display of wealth by Murkomen and Sudi and the arrogance of Kale politicians also were a painful reminder of the worst years of Moi.

The Kalenjin and Kikuyu arrogance (by these I mean the elite arrogance at the top, hapa chini we cool, mostly) and entitlement rub Kenyans the wrong way.

By Raila working with every president, his greed aside, he has proved that he actually has a bigger heart, is a sage and knows the price of hate.

You would expect that by now, Rigathi Gachagua would have read the room that changed his rhetoric, but man.

You can be a Kikuyu kingpin and still cut a national appeal.

I don't buy the story that you must consolidate your base, be a kingpin and then come to the negotiation table. That worked up to 2018.

Tribal elite consensus will probably die with Raila's last handshake and we will have to find other ways of elite convergence. Could be class, demographic, generational or other means. I doubt if tribe will be a factor from 2032.

But Rigathi is the worst thing that ever happened to us.

Some people were politicising the role of the CBK in stabilising the shilling. There was this utopian claim that CBK would leave the shilling to its devices. These propagandists were condemning the former governor claiming he spent a lot of dollars propping up the shilling.

Currently, CBK is supporting the shilling to address volatility. There is nothing wrong with this as it is justified by the circumstances. This is within CBK's mandate. Such issues should never be the topic of political propaganda.

When the shilling was depreciating rapidly earlier this year, there were claims by government propagandists that it was overvalued and was falling to its true value. Yet when the shilling appreciated rapidly the same people celebrated and attributed this to government intervention. This is doublespeak which should be called out.

Just how low can we fall to embrace tribalism?

Once upon a time, just when Maraga had nullified Uhuru's victory, while in a heated debate about politics, Samuel (not his real name) while drunk of ethnicity, said Luos were very useless people, and even if he was sick and hospitalized, he won't agree to be attended by a Luo medic.

To him, because of Rayila, Luos weren't just demonic and satanic, but very useless people.

After a year, his son sat and excelled in his KCSE and was placed at Maseno, a university situated in Luoland.

While taking this son for admission, unluckily Samuel was involved in an accident. While riding on a bodaboda, they were hit by a motorist who drove off without stopping, in what's commonly referred to as hit and run in traffic parlance.

He regained his conscious at JOOTRH in Kisumu after some two days, where he had been admitted undergoing treatment. He didn't know how he ended up there.

He had been taken there by Samaritans unknown to him or the hospital. Those who took him there, in his own words, saved his life. They also handed over his phones and money to the doctors who handed it all back to him, unstollen.

He kept the story to himself because he didn't want anyone to know that he was rescued by an 'enemy'.

Fast forward, and Rayila joins Ruto on the government and this friend now tells me Rayila is a great man and a statesman. I ask him while reminding him what he had said back then, and he goes ahead to narrate to me the road accident story.

The sad part is that Luos aren't good people for their goodness, but they only become good, when Ruto has decided that Rayila is good.

All along they were bad because Ruto said Rayila was bad. I see how those who have been hurling insults at him online suddenly become his admirers and that's when I realize how Kenyans have lent politicians their brains to carry it for them.

Changing Faces in order to escape
This morning, I continue looking at some tactics David used to escape danger. I want to briefly look at how he feigned, or pretended to be mad in order to escape obvious death.
He had escaped from king Saul, but ended up in the hands of king Achish - and from the look of things, they identified him and would have easily killed him.
To escape, David pretended to be something he was not....... Mad.....and he escaped death.

If you followed this case you already know how Kisumu Senator SC Tom Ojienda was reduced to a junior Counsel by SC Ahmednasir (Grand muller).
He was constantly attacked with facts until the High Court Judge came for his rescue.
Out of 31 submissions Tom Ojienda filed SC Ahmednasir successfully threw out 27 of them.
Grand muller only filed 5 submissions which were successfully admitted.
Before the date of ruling was announced Grand Muller sarcastically told Tom Ojienda that he should be readmitted to a school of law to study commercial law.

The Minister is almost powerless as the CDF retains direct control of the military. The soldiers can only take orders from the president and the CDF.

It can literally run without a minister as it was the case during Moi's time. From 1979 to early 2000s, there was no Ministry for Defence.

IRUNGU KANGATA has an interesting observation on Rayila.

He believes that Rayila's best chances to be president could be in 2027.

He gives an example of Kiharu constituency which voted a young city lawyer in 2007, because of his sophistication and in 2013 voted him out because he was too elite.

Apparently, they never wished for someone of his kind again.

By this he means Kenyans may have wished for a president who is younger, a staunch Christian who isn't a dynast in 2022, but having tasted his leadership they may bow change ambitions and wish for a very old man who is possibly a dynast and has very little religiosity.

This takes us back to the evolution theory which cited the pentadactyl structure of limbs as evidence that most animals had a common ancestry.

The reggae loving Muranga governor Irungu Kangata is UDA. Why are his sentiments identical to those of Uhuru, concerning Rayila's 2027 chances? Uhuru is Jubilee. Possibly, the thinking has a common origin.

Are they honest on Rayila's chances? I doubt. Maybe they want him on the ballot for specific reason or again Uhuru maybe be honest, but Kangata anatupima bangi.

The one lot that we are certain honestly wishes that Rayila be on the ballot in 2027, 2032, 2037 and 2042 are the senior livestock of ODM who swing on his coat tails to various elective positions. Without Rayila, some of these cows will never be elected.

They know how to maneuvere their way into an ODM ticket and once that's secured, they are as good as elected.

Rayila should just pretend he is contesting presidency, confuse the opponents, then pull a Biden and support someone else, maybe a Gen Zee and that way this country will be liberated.

Through his policies and his example, Joe has reminded us of who we are at our best — a country committed to old-fashioned values like trust and honesty, kindness and hard work; a country that believes in democracy, rule of law, and accountability; a country that insists that everyone, no matter who they are, has a voice and deserves a chance at a better life.

This outstanding track record gave President Biden every right to run for re-election and finish the job he started. Joe understands better than anyone the stakes in this election — how everything he has fought for throughout his life, and everything that the Democratic Party stands for, will be at risk if we allow Donald Trump back in the White House and give Republicans control of Congress.

I also know Joe has never backed down from a fight. For him to look at the political landscape and decide that he should pass the torch to a new nominee is surely one of the toughest in his life. But I know he wouldn’t make this decision unless he believed it was right for America. It’s a testament to Joe Biden’s love of country — and a historic example of a genuine public servant once again putting the interests of the American people ahead of his own that future generations of leaders will do well to follow.

We will be navigating uncharted waters in the days ahead. But I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges. I believe that Joe Biden’s vision of a generous, prosperous, and united America that provides opportunity for everyone will be on full display at the Democratic Convention in August. And I expect that every single one of us are prepared to carry that message of hope and progress forward into November and beyond.

For now, Michelle and I just want to express our love and gratitude to Joe and Jill for leading us so ably and courageously during these perilous times — and for their commitment to the ideals of freedom and equality that this country was founded on.
