Acquisition and Renovation
In 2015, William Ruto purchased the 900-acre Intona Ranch in Narok County, which was once the home of Joseph Murumbi, a prominent figure in Kenyan politics and the country's second Vice President.
Ruto acquired this expansive property after paying off a Sh8.9 million loan that Murumbi had defaulted on with the Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC).

The transaction has been marred by controversy, with allegations of impropriety surrounding the sale process, including claims that Ruto's acquisition was facilitated under unclear circumstances.
Upon acquiring the ranch, Ruto undertook significant renovations to restore the estate, which had fallen into disrepair following Murumbi's death in 1990.
The once dilapidated mansion has been transformed into a 35-room opulent residence, now serving as a retreat for Ruto and a venue for meetings.
