Once you have selected the seeds, you need to be aware of the core point;

How long do seedlings stay in the nursery?

During the nursery period, one needs to be prepared for when Fungal diseases and insects attack.

With this in mind your smooth sailing Nursery will have a go. Herein is Amiran Kenya’s Nursery solution to help you in your Nursery Journey.

The first hit would be fungal disease. You can prevent this by spraying proplant in the already set up seeds in the seed trays immediately. Proplant acts as a preventive fungicide in this case.

Introduce balanced foliar feeding to help in their growth. Polyfeed standard (19.19.19 + TE) releases the necessary nutrients needed to your crop during its growth journey.

Incorporating stress managers like prominent which is prayed once in a week will help the seedling s to cope. As you are doing this remember to irrigate your seedlings sufficiently.

Alternate the use of Bigo and Goldazim to help in the control of dumping off and Downey Mildew In the case of over irrigation that aids in the accumulation of moisture that leads to the said diseases.

For sucking pests, cutworms and caterpillars, Use Triger or Buffalo to control them.

The foundation of healthy crops begins in the nursery.

Selecting the right location for the nursery is crucial; it should receive ample sunlight, have proper drainage, and be shielded from strong winds.

Raised seedbeds is highly recommended.

The soil plays an integral part. Select a soil media that has fine tilth, avoid soil that forms big soil clogs. In this case use Amiran Kenya’s ready-to-use soilless media Peatmoss. Assurance of good water retention and aeration is met.

The incorporation of manure in the begin will help to ensure uniformity in the soil organic matter.

Seed population should dictate the spacing. This helps to eliminate competition for resources and fungal diseases like dumping off. Once inputting the seeds, cover the seeds slightly. No need of soil immersing them.

To avoid congestion, ideal spacing is advised. Make shallow shallow rows. Seed trays helps with this and we offer options with 66 holes and 160 holes to meet your needs.

For the purpose of ensuring that there is same soil temperature, use mulch to help with the regulation and protection which is readily available in our stores.

In instances that there is no rain, irrigate at least twice a day. Preferably Morning and evening.

Once the seedlings start emerging, remove the mulch and erect a shade 1.5M high. Do away with the shade once the seedlings germinate fully.
