Pope Francis's body lies in state at the chapel of Santa Martha at Vatican City.
Following the pope's request, the pope's body is placed inside a wooden casket instead of a bier, which was used for the funeral of the previous popes.

It was also Pope Francis's wish to be placed in a simple wooden casket with a zinc lining instead of the traditional three layers of coffins made of cypress, lead, and oak.

So, a few weeks ago, Baba Raila Odinga issued a very controversial statement, saying the military wanted to overthrow President William Ruto's government.

A few days ago, the military chief issued another BOLD yet controversial statement, insisting President will only go through the ballot.

Gullible Kenyans with their emotions are not seeing they are being played. Easily aroused to online rage plastering Gen. Kahariri's number all over to intimidate him.

You people forget that there can never be an inconsistency in government. Raila can not issue a statement only to be countered by the general.

My theory is that Ruto wanted to know or assertain the position of the military. He used Raila as bait to force the military to make clear their position.

Now that the military has made it clear that RutoMustgo can only happen in the ballot, I believe the next plan will be phased out soon.

Why has Raila Odinga remained a dominant force in Kenyan politics for decades? It is not just his charisma, strategic mind, or ability to rally the masses. Raila's enduring power stems from something far more significant—control.

He has mastered the art of political maneuvering, not merely playing by the rules but often dictating them. Unlike Uhuru Kenyatta, whose influence was built on legacy, or William Ruto, who rose through calculated political aggression, Raila has relied on a mix of fear, loyalty, and discipline to cement his authority.

His grip on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has turned it into Kenya’s most resilient political party since the advent of multiparty democracy. His ability to dismantle opponents—both within and outside his circles—has created a political landscape where defying him often comes at a steep cost. Raila’s presence is so commanding that even in moments of silence, governments remain on edge, anticipating his next move.

Yet, power is an unpredictable force. Despite his unparalleled influence, the elusive presidency remains just out of reach. Raila has built a legacy that will outlast many regimes, but never—at least not yet—within the corridors of State House.

Baba Raila Odinga knows he has no much time left due to his advanced age. This has the greatest influence in his political decisions.

Raila knows he has no strength to put up a vigorous campaign against President Ruto. He also knows it will be a waste of time and energy- energy he so much needs to preserve fighting Ruto when he clearly knows Kenyans will not vote for him.

What Baba is doing is self preservation for himself and his party ODM. Minimal efforts with Capital gains.

With more ODM members expected to assume positions in government, Raila ensures that ODM survives another 10 years in the political space.

Raila has no time to play political savior, he has no time to gamble with Kenyans who have repeatedly, time and again shown him the middle finger. He has time for himself and ODM.
