Raila to Wamalwa:Karibu katika kiwanja cha upinzani
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has welcomed the immediate former cabinet secretary for Defence Eugene Wamalwa to the opposition.
Wamalwa, who leads the Democratic Alliance Party of Kenya DAP-K accompanied Raila and other Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance leaders including Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) and Martha Karua (Narc-Kenya) as they unveiled former Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi as the coalition's candidate in the upcoming Bungoma senatorial by-elections.
"Our candidate for that contest will be Honourable Wafula Wamunyinyi. Honourable Wafula Wamunyinyi has what it takes to win the Bungoma seat and more importantly, he has a record of speaking out for the people of Kenya. Given the scenario unfolding in the country, an emerging one-man regime that is quickly turning its back on Kenyans and their problems, the country will need seasoned fighters in all critical places," Raila said.
"Tuko hapa na Eugene Wamalwa ambaye kwa mara ya kwanza anashiriki mikutano yetu k**a mwanachama, ametoka kwa serikali sasa. Karibu katika kiwanja ya upinzani. (We are here with Eugene Wamalwa for the first time as a party member, since he has left government. Welcome to opposition)," Raila added.
Raila at the same time castigated the Kenya Kwanza regime for planning to raise more taxes against Kenyans, which he termed as unrealistic.
"We are particularly concerned about UDA’s plan to inflict more tax burdens on Kenyans and other pronouncements and promises made in recent days that are unrealistic," Raila said.
Raila on extra-judicial killings
The ODM supremo also said that the probe into extra-judicial killings is turning into a witchhunt against former Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti.
