HOW TO BE YOURSELF

Being yourself means you like who you are. Being yourself means living life how you wanted to live it, regardless of other peoples' opinions. And it just means you respect yourself. Worrying about what others will think is just a waste of time, you can't control them or control their thoughts.

1. KNOW YOURSELF
Our beliefs about who we are go all the way to childhood. We’re born as sponges, and we soak up our environment without even realizing it.

2. LET GO OF NEGATIVE SELF-TALK
Limiting beliefs manifest as negative self-talk. To overcome limiting beliefs and learn how to start being yourself, listen to your inner monologue. You may tell yourself things like, “I’ve always been this way” or “I’m just not good at this.” Perhaps you tell yourself that you need to be perfect to be worthy of love.

3. FOCUS ON YOUR STRENGTHS
Your negative traits are not who you are. Replace negative self-talk with positive thoughts that empower you to be yourself. When you focus on your strengths, you build yourself up instead of tear yourself down.

4. STOP LIVING IN THE PAST
Your past does not equal your future. Everyone has made mistakes. They don’t have to define who you are, and you don’t need to spend your life atoning for them. Learn how to let go of guilt and stop living in the past.

5. STOP CARING ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK
For many of us, not caring what others think is easier said than done. It’s human nature to want to fit in, but our fear of what other people think only holds us back. Remember that what people think of you is actually a reflection of them, not you. You can’t control other people’s opinions. All you can do is learn how to be yourself – and how to be happy with that.

6. BE OPEN TO CHANGE
The human brain is complex. We are the product of hundreds of experiences and pieces of information that our brains process every day. The brain is always learning and changing, so how can we expect ourselves to stay the same?

7. BE VULNERABLE
It’s easy to show off the good parts of ourselves. But to be yourself, you have to be your whole self. That means being willing to be vulnerable. If you’re wondering “How can I be myself?,” the answer is to step into your pain and face your fears head on.

8. EXPRESS YOURSELF
Expressing yourself can help you determine what you enjoy, how your experiences affect you and how to start being yourself.

9. GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE
People crave certainty – it’s one of the Six Human Needs. Yet we also need growth and variety. “All growth starts at the end of your comfort zone.” The journey to learning how to be yourself starts there, too.

10. FIND YOUR COMMUNITY
You’ve done the internal work. Now it’s time to seek support and acceptance for the new you. When you surround yourself with the right people, they’ll elevate your best traits and build you up, instead of holding you back.

Happy New week. New month.

Thinking about my experiences in business and making a difference, I realize how much I have learned from tough times, hurdles, and achievements. Looking back, I am amazed at how much these experiences have taught me. Working at construction sites, untrained primary teacher, waiter, loader, security guard, sales rep in insurance and banking, hotel supervisor and manager, security supervisor to branch manager to operations manager, retail as an area manager to operations manager, this is not a joke, a world of great hustling. In this post, I will be sharing some of the things I have learned.

One big lesson? Being adaptable and bouncing back is key. Challenges have made me rethink my strategies; sparked new ideas and driven me to real results and long-lasting change.

Another lesson I have learned is that teamwork is everything. Each member brings unique strengths, like pieces of a puzzle forming a bigger picture. Your team is your greatest asset. My journey has taught me the power of collaboration. In Kenya, where challenges and opportunities abound, working together drives remarkable results and progress.

Another lesson: Invest in people. Nurturing their potential drives organizational success. Just as a team's strengths propel progress, investing in each member fosters growth. Remember, behind every successful venture are the people who drive it forward.

I am happy that over time, the individuals I have had the privilege of mentoring and guiding have grown into impactful leaders and are succeeding. Seeing their progress and accomplishments reinforces my belief in the power of investing in people. As they thrive, so does the strength of our teams and organizations.

Another lesson: making an impact matters just as much as achieving individual success. It's not only about personal accomplishments though, but also about how we contribute to the greater good. When our actions create positive change and benefit others, it adds depth and meaning to our journey. It is essential to provide value that serves as a foundation for lasting impact.

In every endeavor, whether in business or personal growth, the value we offer is what truly defines our success. When we prioritize creating meaningful contributions and solutions, we not only enrich the lives of others but also leave a legacy that endures.

Finally, to business professionals, here's a tip: Embrace change as a catalyst for growth. In times of uncertainty, being flexible and thinking ahead are what make us successful. Leaders should build a culture of collaboration and inclusivity, knowing that different viewpoints lead to fresh ideas and progress. We can tackle tough problems and capitalize on opportunities to grow and transform by working together.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Now that we are back to our normal lives, after the holiday break, I want to extend my warmest wishes to you for a Happy New Year!

May 2024 be a year of immense growth, profound joy, and meaningful accomplishments. Further to this, my financial advice this year to you,

In the current economic climate, it's crucial to be prudent with your finances. Live within, and if necessary, below your means.
Consider purchasing older-season clothes, and be mindful of your electricity and data usage. Eliminate unnecessary expenses, like contributions to events, and avoid lending money to habitual non-returners.
This isn't the time for grandiose or extravagant displays, gestures, or excessive pride. Expand your social circle, network beyond your usual connections, seize opportunities as they arise, and, above all, maintain a vigilant eye on your financial situation. Prioritize spending wisely and saving diligently.
Take action now—your financial well-being depends on it.

Happy New Year 2024.
